ZEALOT, a leading creative advertising agency known for producing standout trailers, teasers, and print campaigns for major films, shows, and entertainment brands, is seeking a HR Manager to join our New York office. We are a growing company of approximately 110 employees across the U.S., with continued expansion on the horizon. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment and is excited by both hands-on HR work and the opportunity to help build stronger HR processes as we scale.
This position supports U.S.based employees across our New York and Los Angeles offices (our London office is not within this role’s scope). The HR Manager will manage the daily HR operations and full employee lifecycle, while partnering closely with the Head of HR on initiatives that improve our systems, tools, and programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Lifecycle & Daily Operations- Lead day-to-day HR activities across the full employee lifecycle: recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee changes, leaves of absence, and offboarding
- Support hiring managers throughout the recruiting and selection process
- Ensure a consistent, engaging employee experience across our growing U.S. workforce
- Own multistate payroll processing, particularly for New York and California
Ensure timely, accurate payroll and compliance with all relevant regulations - Work with Finance on audits, reporting, and payroll-related matters
Maintain accurate employee records, documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions and HR support needs
Manage benefits administration in partnership with broker and Head of HR, including open enrollment, benefits communication, and wellness program. - Provide guidance around HR policies, leave programs, and workplace concerns with professionalism and discretion
- Assist Head of HR with compensation and broader total rewards programs and administration
- Help strengthen and streamline HR workflows, documentation, and systems
Bring ideas and energy to improving current HR programs and contributing to new solutions as we grow - Collaborate with the Head of HR on initiatives related to training, performance processes, and organizational development
- Effectively support creative teams and understand the nuances of a creative agency environment
Uphold with Head of HR and leadership a culture of collaboration, creativity, community, kindness, learning, and respect - Demonstrate humility, curiosity, patience, and a genuine desire to learn and contribute as the HR function evolves
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (HR, Business, or related field)
- 5+ years of HR Manager and HR Generalist experience including managing HR programs; experience, including ownership of payroll is required
- Strong experience with multistate payroll, specifically NY & CA
- Experience working with creative, entertainment, or agency teams is a plus
- Paylocity experience or familiarity with similar HRIS/payroll systems is a strong preference
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Pro-active team member, with excellent knowledge of Office 365 (word, excel and outlook are essential), Slack, Zoom, Applicant Tracking Software.
