Who We Are:

At Hoffmann Brothers, our people are the heart of everything we do. For over 40 years, we've proudly served the St. Louis community as the region's leading HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Appliance Repair service provider. In just the last eight years, we've grown from a family-run team of 50 to a 600+ strong, multi-market organization and we're not done yet.

As we grow, so does our commitment to building a workplace where every team member feels supported, developed, and valued. That's where you come in.

The Role:

We're looking for an experienced, people-first HR Generalist to join our St. Louis shared services team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of people operations, learning and development, and employee experience. You'll serve as a dedicated partner to assigned business units across our skilled trades workforce and office professionals — building real relationships, solving real problems, and helping our leaders and team members do their best work.

The ideal candidate brings both the HR fundamentals and the people instincts to thrive in a fast-paced, field-service environment. You're equally comfortable running a new hire orientation, coaching a manager through a tough conversation, and digging into leave paperwork bringing the same energy to all of it.

What You'll Do:

Business Partnership

  • Serve as a dedicated HR partner to assigned business units, developing a deep understanding of their operational goals, team dynamics, and people challenges
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and team members, providing proactive, practical guidance on employee relations, performance, and policy
  • Coach and advise managers on feedback delivery, performance improvement plans, and career development conversations
  • Partner with leadership to drive consistent, meaningful performance review cycles

Learning, Development & Onboarding

  • Lead weekly new hire orientations, creating a welcoming and informative first-day experience that sets team members up for success from day one
  • Partner with business unit leaders to identify learning needs and develop targeted growth plans for high-potential team members
  • Facilitate training and development programs for frontline leaders and team members across the organization

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Provide front-line support for employee relations with professionalism, consistency, and discretion
  • Conduct investigations, manage documentation, and lead coaching conversations in alignment with company policy and employment law
  • Champion team member engagement initiatives, support listening sessions, and help translate feedback into meaningful action

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Manage and track leaves of absence including FMLA, ADA, and personal leaves with both empathy and compliance
  • Support workers' comp intake, coordinate return-to-work processes, and partner with leaders to reinforce a culture of safety
  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and contribute to HR reporting and workforce data as needed

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience supporting a diverse workforce; field service or skilled trades experience is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating training, new hire orientation, or leadership development programs
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and payroll platforms
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification a plus
