The North America Valmet People & Culture team, People Operations, is looking for an energetic and driven professional who has strong background as a HR generalist and is ready to take the next step joining a great team. This role reports to the North America People Operations Manager, responsible for people processes across the US and Canada. 

In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to a variety of teams across the US and Canada in the employee life cycle activities and partnering with HR Managers as well as the manufacturing leaders and employees in the Houston area.

Some of the key responsibilities include: 

  • Manage essential employee lifecycle activities including onboarding/offboarding 
  • Support employee relations topics (i.e., administering discipline, etc.) 
  • Address employee inquiries on policies or people processes 
  • Conduct investigations and recommend actions 
  • Coach leaders in various people topics (i.e., performance improvement, policies, etc.) 
  • Support in the disability management program 
  • Manage employee complaints
  • Enhance people operations processes on the employee life cycle activities 
  • Support HR transformation model (i.e., Workday Help module implementation and change management) 
  • Other activities to support payroll, and attendance records as applicable.  

This position is located at 5904 Bingle Road, Houston, TX 77092 and is expected to travel to two additional Valmet locations in the Houston area. This position is not available for internation relocation. Applicant must be living in the Houston area and authorized to work in the US.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Labor Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.  
  • Master’s degree in business administration or human resources is a plus. ?  
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive HR experience in a global organization. 
  • Manufacturing experience and experience maintaining positive employee relations. 
  • Hands-on experience supporting employee relations, HR processes and full employee life cycle administration is a plus.
  • Experience with project management tools/ continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Proficient in HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Solid/advance Excel and Power Point required). 
  • Knowledge of US labor laws, employment regulations, and HR compliance
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; able to coach and create positive change. 
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships across the organization
  • Success in this position requires the ability to collaborate with leaders and employees across multiple functions, supported by effective communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.  
  • This role is hybrid, initially 4 days a week in office for 90 days, later a minimum of 3 days a week after that.

Skills Required
