Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist is an entry level position, responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR senior management. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. This is an 100% in office role.
Job Duties
- Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing personnel transactions.
- Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles and reviews reports from the database on an ad hoc or scheduled timeframe
- Respond to legal requests, including subpoenas, unemployment claims, etc.
- Provides accurate monthly data to Senior Management and executives relative to demographic headcount information
- Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews).
- Act as liaison between workers, managers, and executives
- Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
- Attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information
- Attend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as required
- Help plan, coordinate and implement employee engagement activities
Responsibilities
- Build Team morale and promote company culture by demonstrating positive and professional attitudes.
- Participates in Third Party System design to ensure company goals, immediate and future are being met
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Ensures all employees have completed required training with anti-discrimination laws, sexual harassment training, HIPAA training as appropriate for their jobs.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
- Full understanding of legalities of business law in relation to HR and employee employment rights and how to apply them and know when to escalate issue to HR Manager/Director for resolution.
- Maintain consistent documentation on issues that may arise, to support message delivered to employee or manager.
- Acts as employee relations specialist. Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
- Coaches, counsels and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
Qualifications
- 100% in office
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Business Administration
- SHRM or PHR certification preferred
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must be extremely well organized and methodical in your approach to problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (from 0-15% of the time)
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks
- The ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary.
