Black Rock Oceanfront Resort is seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Generalist to lead our day-to-day HR operations and support our team from recruitment through every stage of the employee journey.

As our Human Resources Generalist, you will administer the full range of HR functions for our resort, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations, health and safety, and staff accommodation. Working closely with our General Manager and department leaders, you will play a key role in creating a positive, respectful, and high-performing workplace for our team, while helping us deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Located in Ucluelet on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park, Black Rock Oceanfront Resort combines rugged coastal beauty with modern comfort. Our resort offers guests a warm and welcoming West Coast experience through our oceanfront accommodations, spa, and food and beverage outlets.

Black Rock Oceanfront Resort resides within the Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ – Ucluelet First Nation traditional territory, of whose ancestral lands we work and play.

Position Responsibilities

As the Human Resources Generalist, you will:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation to help us welcome and set up new team members for success.
  • Serve as the go-to HR resource for managers, supporting employee relations, progressive discipline, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, documentation, and reporting, and administer employee benefits programs.
  • Support the development and rollout of HR policies and workplace training, including respectful workplace and harassment prevention.
  • Support our staff accommodation program in partnership with our Accommodation Manager(s), including tenancy documentation and day-to-day employee support.
  • Coordinate documentation and support for our seasonal and temporary foreign worker programs, liaising with immigration consultants as needed.
  • Coordinate our Occupational Health & Safety program and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Champion employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives that build a great place to work.
  • Participate in leadership meetings as our HR resource, contributing to workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

HR Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, WorkSafeBC requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience working with confidential employee information.
  • Hospitality, tourism, or service industry experience is considered a strong asset.

  • Excellent conflict resolution and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands.

Other Assets

  • CPHR designation (or working towards designation).
  • Experience supporting seasonal workforces.
