The Apogee Performance Surfaces segment has grown from $100M to $200M in revenue through a recent acquisition. Position Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides proactive strategic and tactical HR support, partnering closely with leadership and operations to understand the business and workforce to drive successful outcomes. This role acts as a change agent who anticipates HR needs, communicates effectively with leadership, and identifies opportunities to support business strategy. The HRBP serves as a point of contact for all HR matters, offering guidance in employee relations, coaching, talent acquisition, performance management, and more.
This is a fully in office position with occasional travel required.
Responsibilities
- Business Results
- Partner closely with leaders to drive business performance by developing and executing effective people strategies and labor management.
- Maintain strong business partner relationships with Operations Leaders and Employees including hosting 1:1s with leaders and availability sessions for employees.
- Stay visible through plant floor walks and maintains an open-door policy.
- Support organizational change, ensure strong workforce and succession planning, and help leaders align talent decisions with business goals to achieve measurable results.
- Support safety, continuous improvement, Lean Sigma, and 6S activities within the facility.
- Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, & Offboarding
- Partner with leaders to create accurate job descriptions ensuring alignment with headcount, budget, and organizational needs.
- Create accurate job requisitions and offer support of developing accurate job descriptions.
- Work closely with the Recruiting Team to ensure all hiring activities are compliant with company policies and Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) requirements.
- Lead an effective new hire onboarding/orientation program including preparation of orientation materials, technology setup, setting performance expectations, conducting orientation sessions, etc.
- Coordinate and facilitate the offboarding process, including exit interviews, system and equipment recovery, communication with relevant departments, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for leaders and employees regarding all HR matters such as payroll, policies, and benefits, while balancing the needs of the business and being a champion for employees.
- Manage and resolve routine and complex employee issues.
- Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Partner with leaders to assist with personnel related issues, including but not limited to progressive discipline or leave management.
- Effectively manage the performance evaluation processes, acting as an advisor to leaders regarding any performance issues or concerns.
- Objectively coach team members and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
- Enhance and maintain employee engagement to cultivate a high-performance, loyal, communicative, and collaborative workforce that directly contributes to business growth and strengthens the company’s reputation as an employer of choice.
- Human Resource Process
- Facilitate employee training as required by Apogee’s Learning & Development Team and act as the liaison for training content.
- Review timecards, track payroll items, and work closely with Apogee’s Payroll Team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with HR procedures such as maintaining accurate personnel files, conducting regular audits, and legal compliance.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and provide actionable insights.
- Maintain working knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Assist with compliance items such as drug screening, workers compensation, and unemployment.
- All other duties as necessary to the success of the business.
Personal Attributes and Experience
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field. PHR or SHRM-CP Certificate a plus.
- 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist or higher role.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Skills to investigate, assess, and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong customer service orientation and positive approach and professional image.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management, documentation, and organizational skills with willingness to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivation and ability to work as a team in a collaborative environment as well as individually.
- Sensitive to other cultures/backgrounds, able to work in a multi-cultural workplace and promote and support diversity and inclusion.
- Software proficiency to include Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and HR Information Systems. Workday experience preferred.
Work Environment
This job is primarily performed in an office environment. The noise level in the office is generally moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently interacts with individuals on the plant floor, near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
