The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Human Resources Business Partner, Senior to join our team.  The Senior Business Partner (SBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and leadership within designated business units. This role serves as a strategic advisor, partnering across HR functions to deliver value-added services that support organizational goals. The SBP operates with a high level of business acumen and autonomy, serving as a coach, advisor, and key compliance resource for leadership and staff. This role provides proactive guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness. In addition, the SBP plays a critical role in driving employee engagement and retention through on-site engagement, workforce insights, and feedback mechanisms, including conducting site visits and analyzing employee experience data. This position serves as a mentor to HR team members and contributes to the development of HR strategies and initiatives.


Your role in action:

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that align with business goals and drive organizational performance.
  • Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation, ensuring consistency and compliance with policies and employment laws.
  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching to leaders on performance management, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Analyze workforce data, trends, and metrics to inform business decisions and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Drive talent planning initiatives, including workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design.
  • Support and influence change management efforts, ensuring successful implementation of organizational initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent application and interpretation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices across assigned client groups.
  • Identify skill gaps and partner with leadership to implement targeted training and development solutions.
  • Facilitate regular business reviews with leadership to assess workforce needs, risks, and opportunities.
  • Serve as a culture champion, promoting employee engagement, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Conducts regular site visits and engagement rounds to assess workplace environment, support leadership, ensure HR standards are upheld, and proactively address employee concerns.
  • Leads and analyzes exit interviews and employee feedback from new employee surveys, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations to improve retention and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partners with leadership to develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies based on data insights and field observations.
  • Provides strategic workforce insights through analysis of employee relations trends, turnover data, and engagement feedback to influence business decisions.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
  • Current in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee engagement, workman’s compensation, federal and state employment laws.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years as a Business Partner or Sr. Generalist in a shared services model
  • Previous experience in HR, Professional Development and or employee relations
  • Business acumen/change management
  • Experience working in HR supporting decentralized people services
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships among diverse populations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of HR concepts and principles gained though formal education and substantial work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in making strategic HR decisions and effectively interfacing with high level business and operations leaders
  • Developed oral and written communication and diplomacy skill set with ability to influence others by presenting sound and logical arguments tailored to the audience
  • Approachable and responsible resource able to connect with employees at all levels
  • Ability to work in a changing work environment, strategically promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Strong presentation skills and facilitation experience needs to deliver a variety of HR training programs to groups of managers and colleagues
  • Dynamic and progressive thinker.
