Job Summary:

The Human Resources Associate supports daily HR operations and employee services, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee records and performance review administration. This role serves as primary contact for general HR inquiries and works with the Human Resources Manager and department leaders to maintain accurate records, support employee engagement, and improve HR processes while protecting confidential information.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer general HR questions accurately and promptly; explain company policies and procedures and refer complex or sensitive matters to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Post job openings, schedule interviews, and maintain applicant records.
  • Coordinate employment verifications, new hire paperwork, and work with hiring managers to support consistent onboarding experience including employee orientation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential employee files and HR information system records; process employee status changes. 
  • Support administration of HR policies, procedures, and handbook updates under the direction of the Human Resources Manager. Identify opportunities to improve administrative efficiency. 
  • Support HR Manager with coordination with benefits providers and assist with open enrollment.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and general benefits questions.
  • Assist with PTO, workers’ compensation, and leave administration.
  • Support employee relations efforts by listening to employee concerns, documenting information, and assisting with follow-up. Escalate matters that may require investigations or disciplinary action to the Human Resources Manager.
  • Assist with compensation data collection and wage matrix updates; support consistent communication of the company’s compensation program. and provide information for management review.
  • Support training coordination, completion tracking, employee engagement initiatives, and retention activities in partnership with HR Manager and department leaders.
  • Support employment and safety compliance through accurate documentation and record keeping; participate in the Safety Committee and associated activities as assigned.
  • Complete recurring and ad hoc HR administrative tasks, filing, prepare reports, and collaborate with the HR team to improve recruiting, onboarding, and employee services.
  • Serve as a greeter for visitors and issue visitor badges. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a professional, service-oriented approach. 
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and dependable follow-through on deadlines and assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, analyze information, identify problems, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Integrity, discretion, and the ability to protect confidential employee and business information.
  • Working knowledge of HR practices and employment-related requirements, with the ability to know when additional guidance is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn HRIS, recruiting, and payroll systems. Accurately enter data. 
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and support a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of two years of professional human resources experience, including employee relations and/or recruiting, required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional standing, bending, and handling files or office supplies.
  • Ability to lift office products or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to move about the organization’s facilities at frequent intervals.
