Position Summary

Grand View University seeks a collaborative, service-oriented Human Resources Administrator to support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. The HR Administrator serves as a key resource for faculty, staff, and student employees by providing administrative and operational support across talent acquisition, onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, compliance, payroll coordination, employee relations, and HR systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring an exceptional employee experience while supporting the University's mission, values, and commitment to inclusion and student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration

  • Serve as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees, supervisors, applicants, and campus partners.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure compliance with university policies and applicable employment laws.
  • Process employment transactions including new hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, administrative actions, and separations.
  • Prepare and distribute employment documents, contracts, correspondence, and HR communications.
  • Maintain and update personnel files, HRIS records, and organizational data.
  • Facilitate onboarding activities, new employee orientation, and required employment documentation.
  • Ensure completion of background checks, I-9 verification, and onboarding requirements.
  • Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture aligned with the university's mission and values.
  • Assist with employee recognition programs, professional development initiatives, and campus engagement activities.

Benefits and Payroll Support

  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and general benefits-related questions.
  • Coordinate open enrollment activities and employee communications.
  • Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate personnel and compensation information.
  • Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and other leave programs.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Assist with HR audits and required reporting, including EEO, ACA, and institutional reporting requirements.
  • Maintain records in accordance with retention guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Support policy interpretation and implementation.

HR Systems and Data Management

  • Maintain HR databases and personnel information systems.
  • Generate reports and analyze workforce data to support decision-making.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality across all HR systems.
  • Assist with system testing, upgrades, and process enhancements.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Two to five years of progressively responsible human resources or administrative experience.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of faculty employment processes and higher education compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HR reporting and analytics.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
