HR SPECIALIST
S&L Motors & S&L Ford | Full-Time | Onsite
Help build great teams. Support great people. Be part of a company that has been family-owned for 101 years.
The Kayser Automotive Group is looking for an experienced, people-focused HR Specialist to join our team and support two of our Wisconsin dealerships — S&L Motors in Pulaski and S&L Ford in Oconto Falls.
Founded in Madison in 1925, Kayser is a family-owned automotive group with eight dealerships across Wisconsin. While our business has grown significantly over the past century, one thing hasn't changed: we believe our people are our greatest asset.
This is an opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, organized, accessible, and involved. You'll be the go-to HR resource for employees and managers at both dealerships, helping make sure our people have the support, information, and resources they need to succeed.
You'll have meaningful responsibility across payroll, benefits, compliance, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and day-to-day HR support — with the opportunity to make a real impact on the employee experience.
A New Facility. An Exciting Opportunity.
This position will initially support our Pulaski and Oconto Falls dealerships. In May 2027, the Oconto Falls operation will move into a brand-new facility in Little Suamico, giving you the opportunity to be part of an exciting next chapter for the dealership.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Payroll & Compensation
- Process accurate semi-monthly payroll and monthly manager commission payroll.
- Manage payroll deductions in our Netchex system, including garnishments, wage assignments, and national medical orders.
- Maintain and upload 401(k) transmittals with each payroll cycle.
- Coordinate year-end payroll reporting, including W-2s and 1095-Cs.
Benefits & HR Administration
- Manage new-hire benefits enrollment and ongoing employee benefit administration.
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and maintain accurate vendor information.
- Lead the annual open-enrollment process and coordinate benefit changes.
- Support 401(k) enrollment, employee financial meetings, and annual audit requests.
- Process employee terminations and coordinate COBRA administration.
- Serve as the primary dealership contact for workers' compensation claims and carrier communication.
- Be a trusted resource for employees with day-to-day benefit and HR questions.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Partner with dealership managers to identify hiring needs and post open positions.
- Conduct initial phone screens and coordinate interviews.
- Manage the new-hire process from offer through onboarding.
- Ensure new employees are accurately and efficiently entered into our HR and payroll systems.
- Help create a welcoming, organized onboarding experience for every new team member.
Employee Support & HR Partnership
- Build strong working relationships with employees, managers, General Managers, and Controllers.
- Help managers navigate employee questions and HR-related issues.
- Investigate employee concerns and assist with resolutions in partnership with the appropriate leadership.
- Help ensure our dealerships remain compliant with applicable employment laws and company policies.
- Be a visible and approachable HR presence within the dealerships.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, personable, and comfortable taking ownership.
You don't need to know everything on day one. What matters most is that you're someone who:
- Has experience in HR administration, payroll, and benefits.
- Is exceptionally organized and pays close attention to detail.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and handles sensitive information professionally.
- Communicates clearly and builds trust with employees and managers.
- Is comfortable working independently while also being part of a larger HR team.
- Enjoys solving problems and finding answers rather than simply passing questions along.
- Can balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, people-focused environment.
- Is willing and able to support both dealership locations, including the transition of the Oconto Falls operation to Little Suamico in May 2027.
- Has experience with Netchex or another HRIS/payroll platform — a plus, but not required.
Automotive, dealership, multi-unit retail, or multi-location HR experience is a plus.
