We are looking for a result oriented, enthusiastic, and highly motivated individual to join our team as HR Lead. The Successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day HR operations for Terrific Tiles in collaboration with the Divisional Human Resources Manager (DHRM). The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Human Resource principles and activities, excellent knowledge of the relevant employment legislation and IR practices, and a passion for driving employee engagement towards creating a high-performance workforce.

THE ROLE: 

The HR Lead responsibilities include:

  • Support the DHRM in the development of a training strategy for the short and long term to be used to develop training and succession plans. Utilising techniques of training needs assessments, organisational needs, department needs and individual employee needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of a comprehensive and sustainable employee engagement strategy for the Company in conjunction with Management and employees.
  • Work with DHRM to develop and recommend initiatives based on the results of engagement surveys to continuously improve employee engagement.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, onboarding, and retention programmes in accordance with Company Policy and procedures.
  • Assist with the mediation of difficult employee disputes, grievances and/or other interactions as a neutral party with a view to resolve and de-escalate conflicts among impacted parties.
  • Assist with overseeing the Company’s performance management system
  • Support management by ensuring compliance with the SHAW Act and & Group HSSE policies, provide education opportunities for employees on safety and health practices.
  • Prepare and distribute internal communications, aimed at improving communication across the Company such as the Employee Newsletter.
  • Demonstrate the expected behaviours of GEL Leader

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Effectiveness or Business, or a related field; post graduate certificate in a related field will be an asset.
  • At least 5 years of proven Human Resources leadership experience as an HR Generalist with at least 3 years at a Senior or Supervisory level
  • Knowledge of Barbados Employment laws and their application

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

  • Human resources management
  • Performance review methods and techniques
  • Knowledge and experience of training needs assessment
  • Employee recognition practices
  • An understanding of relevant employment legislation
  • Evidence of success in a human resources role in an environment which has included advising managers and handling day-to-day operational activities.
  • A high appreciation and understanding of Customer Service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact confidently with people at all levels.
  • Ability to coordinate activities between different locations.
