Description

The Human Resource Intern is responsible for supporting and assisting our Human Resources department. Our interns are an important part of the 

Wakefield Pork family and have opportunities to take part in leadership activities, company specific and Minnesota Pork Board events, and more!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Assist in supporting the Human Resources department with company policies and procedures
  •  Updating employee records and internal databases
  •  Preparing and administering employee surveys, consolidating information, and presenting in detailed reports
  •  Assisting HR in hiring and recruiting procedures, developing and creating reports to outline different strategies for various openings. 
  •  Attention to the industry, and reporting analytics of hiring trends.
  •  Assist in scheduling meetings and interviews with candidates and employees
  •  Assist HR in employee training and development 
  •  Work with various teams to schedule and organize company events and trainings.
  •  Assist and develop strategies for employment engagement within the company, including but not limited to support staff, office staff, and barn staff 
  •  Provide administrative support to the Human Resource department 
  •  Assist/attend organizing of events and campaigns, such as job fairs, community events sponsored by the company, and other various company gatherings. 

Hours:

  •  Summer - 12 weeks (beginning mid-May and ending mid-August)
  •  Typically, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Pay and Benefits:

  •  Interns paid an hourly rate of $17 per hour
  •  Housing is provided for interns relocating to the area
  •  Housing stipend potentially available

Internship requires a high level of respect for team members and animals. Interns must 

demonstrate communication, time-management skills and have a high regard for animal 

welfare, as well as possess the ability to adapt and function effectively in a fast paced, 

changing environment.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Be currently enrolled at a 2- or 4-year college or university
  • Efficient in Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent internet research skills
  • High attention to detail, oral and written communication skills
  • Exemplary time management

Additional Requirements: 

  • This position may require operating a company vehicle. Any internship offer for this position is contingent upon the review of applicant’s motor vehicle record. The record will be reviewed to determine insurability based on WPI’s company policy and insurance carrier. A Class D license and proof of insurance are required. 
  • A dependable, personal vehicle is required of all interns for the daily work commute. Mileage in excess of 40 miles round trip will be reimbursed.
