Pathway Caring for Children is looking for an experienced, approachable and highly organized HR Generalist/Manager to lead the day-to-day human resources functions of our nonprofit organization.

This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people. You’ll be the go-to HR resource for our employees and supervisors while managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, compliance and HR systems.

What You'll Do
  • Manage the full recruitment process, from job postings and applicants through hiring and onboarding.
  • Serve as a trusted and accessible HR resource for employees and supervisors.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Support supervisors with performance management, coaching and employee concerns.
  • Manage employee benefits, leave administration and HR-related payroll responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records, credentials and required background checks.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures and the Employee Handbook.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Manage HRIS information and reporting.
  • Coordinate employee training and professional development.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition and workplace culture initiatives.
  • Help identify practical ways to continually improve HR processes and the employee experience.

These responsibilities reflect the major functions in Pathway's current HR position, including recruiting, payroll/benefits, compliance, employee relations, HR systems and culture.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  

The HR Generalist/Manager should have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant HR experience. Previous hands-on experience in human resources is required, with nonprofit or mission-driven experience preferred.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices, including FMLA, ADA, and wage and hour requirements, as well as experience with HRIS and payroll systems. Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills are essential.

This position requires someone who is approachable, responsive, detail-oriented, and able to take initiative, manage competing priorities, follow through on responsibilities, and maintain confidentiality.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is expected. A valid Ohio driver's license, safe driving record, and access to reliable transportation are required. Candidates should also demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of Pathway's children, families, and staff.

Skills Required
