About the Role:
The Human Resource Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the HR department by managing administrative tasks and facilitating smooth HR operations. This position is responsible for maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment processes, supporting the onboarding the onboarding process, while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The HR Assistant acts as a point of contact for applicants in process for hire to ensure their screening process is seamless. and helps coordinate new hires with onboarding and trainings. By efficiently handling recruitment and onboarding HR activities, this role contributes to fostering a positive work environment and enhancing overall applicant process and employee satisfaction. Ultimately, the Human Resource Assistant supports the HR team in achieving organizational goals through effective communication and meticulous attention to detail.
Onsite Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period daily. Remote work is not an option for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required with a Bachelor's degree preferred
- Basic understanding of HR principles and employment laws related to recruitment, screenings, and onboarding
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of Experience using HR information systems (HRIS) or applicant tracking systems (ATS). Preferably ADP Workforce Now
- 2 to 5 years of experience with recruitment and onboarding
- Prior experience in a human resources support role at a Florida based Non-Profit Agency preferred or local agency that utilizing Level II FBI background screening and an organization that is designated as a DrugFree Workplace
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Driving Requirements: Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a driving record that is acceptable to Suncoast Center, with a vehicle to use daily while having and keeping a valid registration and valid vehicle insurance during the course of employment
Additional Requirements: Must be able to complete a level II background screening and local county screenings with acceptable results prior to hire and throughout employment and pre-employment drug test in compliance with Florida Law, prior to hire and throughout employment. Must be at least 21 year of age. Must be able to provide official transcripts directly from the college.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update employee records in HR databases and physical files to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist in the recruitment process by posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Support onboarding activities for new hires, including preparing orientation materials and coordinating with relevant departments.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate and assist with employee training sessions, performance evaluations, and other HR-related events.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies by assisting with audits and documentation.
- Prepare HR reports
- Other HR related duties as assigned.
