Job Description

In the Human Factors Engineer role, you will be part of the multidisciplinary IntraSight team, contributing to innovative 2D and 3D imaging clinical solutions. By applying human-centered design principles, you will help physicians to decide, guide, treat, and confirm the right care in real time during minimally invasive procedures, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Your role:

  • Lead and apply Human Factors Engineering processes throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with standards such as FDA Human Factors Guidance and IEC 62366. Drive usability engineering activities that support safe, effective, and user-centered product development.
  • Develop and own realistic use scenarios that reflect clinical workflows and environments, translating user needs into clear usability requirements and design inputs. Ensure product designs align with intended use, clinical context, and user expectations to improve safety and user experience.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the Usability Engineering File, ensuring documentation is complete, traceable, and audit-ready. Produce high-quality usability documentation and evidence to support design decisions, regulatory submissions, and global compliance requirements.
  • Conduct usability risk assessments, including Usability FMEA and hazard analysis, to identify and mitigate use-related risks in alignment with ISO 14971. Define and execute validation plans, including formative and summative usability evaluations, to verify user requirements are met.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, clinical, design, and regulatory teams to embed usability engineering into product architecture and development. Drive continuous improvement of usability methods, tools, and best practices to strengthen product safety, compliance, and overall usability outcomes.

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in human factors and usability engineering within medical device development.
  • Proven track record of creating audit-ready usability documentation, including usability engineering files and validation reports.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in human factors engineering, usability engineering, or a related field, preferably within regulated industries such as medical devices.
  • Deep understanding of IEC 62366, 60601-1-6, FDA Human Factors guidance, and ISO 14971 risk management.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This is an office role.
