Job Description
Position Summary:
The HSSE Coordinator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing safety policies and procedures within the company. They oversee daily activities related to health, safety, and environment to minimize risks and incidents. Additionally, they ensure effective communication between operational teams and HSE managers to ensure the smooth implementation of policies. This person supports the Site HSSE Manager by providing visible field oversight of contractor work, verifying compliance, identifying risks, and driving follow-up.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Implementing HSE policies aligned with current standards and regulations.
  • Implementing HSSE policies aligned with current OSHA/FERC standards and regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day field support to the Site HSSE Manager
  • Acts as a visible HSSE presence in the field
  • Performs routine site inspections, audits, and walkdowns
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site HSSE requirements
  • Serve as daily HSSE interface between CWLNG and contractor personnel
  • Communicate HSSE expectations and deficiencies clearly to contractor supervision
  • Monitors training sessions and inductions and verified training/competency.
  • Identifying, evaluating, and managing safety, health, and environmental risks by supporting hazard identification and verifying controls in the field.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, audits, and walkdowns to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, environmental concerns, and non-compliance with project HSSE requirements.
  • Support initial response to incidents and near misses, participate in investigations, and assist with corrective and preventive action tracking.
  • Maintain accurate field records and submit timely reports on observations, inspections, incidents, and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinating between operational teams and HSE services to ensure compliance and safety by having daily interface between CWLNG and Contractor and Subcontractors.
  • Proposing initiatives to enhance HSE performance and reduce risks.
  • Inform HSSE leadership about the results of safety inspections, observations, and audits as well as any observed deficiencies and means of mitigation
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or events immediately to Shift Supervision and Health and Safety Manager. Aid and assist in the accident and incident investigation process as needed
  • Participate in incident investigations to guide the identification of root causes and effective corrective actions
  • Inspect and verify housekeeping expectations are being maintained; report and follow up deficiencies.
  • Monitor implementation of the contractor permit-to-work system
  • Verify high-risk work activities are conducted in accordance with approved permits and controls
  • Observe hot work, confined space entry, lifting, excavation, line breaking, energized work, or other high-risk tasks as applicable
  • Assist contractor teams in hazard identification, JSAs, pre-job planning, and control verification
  • Promote stop work authority and intervention when conditions are unsafe
  • Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job briefings, and field coaching
  • Reinforce safe work practices and encourage open reporting of concerns
  • Monitor contractor environmental controls including waste management, spill prevention, containment, and housekeeping
  • Report environmental non-compliances and support follow-up
  • Support site access control and security requirements by reporting unauthorized access or suspicious activity
  • Record and submit daily HSSE observations, inspection findings, incident information, and corrective action follow-up
  • Assist in tracking HSSE KPIs, trends, and recurring issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
  • High school diploma required; associates degree or higher-level education preferred.
Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant or similar role
  • Oil & Gas and Gulf Coast experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to implement the principles and practices of occupational safety and health including industrial hygiene and environmental protection programs.
  • Understanding of OSHA general industry and/or construction standards, EPA regulations and related state statutes/regulations or local ordinances.
  • Ability to provide employee training using multiple delivery methods and media.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication to individuals and groups of various sizes who possess a wide range of language skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals in a wide range of situations, circumstances and settings as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce to achieve stated HSE objectives.
  • Ability to operate a computer effectively and the ability to use Microsoft Office products and other software applications effectively to manage information.
  • Ability to act appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to review and communicate technical and safety-related documents such as Job Safety Analyses, work permits, procedures, and inspection reports.
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and high-risk work controls
  • Ability to review JSAs, work permits, and field risk controls
  • Knowledge of contractor oversight in a construction environment
  • Familiarity with incident investigation and corrective action tracking
  • Ability to work in an active construction environment and spend significant time in the field
  • Knowledge of emergency response expectations, spill prevention, and environmental field controls
  • Ability to prepare clear field reports and communicate deficiencies professionally
