Job Overview
The HSES Specialist applies their conceptual and practical knowledge of HSES and is able to work with a considerable degree of autonomy. The role supports office operations through the implementation and continuous improvement of HSES processes, systems, and compliance activities, while effectively engaging with management, employees, contractors, and other stakeholders in a dynamic work environment.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Qualifications and Education
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSES plans, procedures and instructions
- Provide HSES guidance to frontline supervision and field personnel
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior HSES staff
- Assist in HSES Prequalification subcontractors and vendors
- Monitor subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance to safe work practices
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure risk registries are maintained up to date
- Participate and execute HSES activity plan
- Support Projects as required
- Assist in preparing and conducting HSES audits and inspections
- Initiate, monitor, and report on the progress of audit and inspection findings
- Assist in the development and implementation of HSES initiatives.
- Participate in incident investigations and prepare reports as necessary
- Coordinate Emergency Response Plans, the BHV organization, and safety drills. Support report preparation and equipment inspections
- Design and deliver training programs on health, safety, and environmental protocols, ensuring staff readiness and regulatory compliance
- Promote a safety culture through training, awareness campaigns, and leadership engagement
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
- Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations
- Track and analyze HSES performance metrics and KPIs
- Identify opportunities for improving HSES systems and processes
Essential Qualifications and Education
- Degree / Diploma or equivalent in HSES related subject
- Five (5) years of Oil and Gas HSES experience
- Conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations
- Familiar with all company, facility, and project specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken
- Good interpersonal skills
- Conflict Resolution skills and leadership skills
- NEBOSH Certification is an advantage
Proficiency in Dutch language is mandatory
