About the role
DP World is seeking for an experienced HSEQ Manager to join our site in Bologna, Italy.
The HSEQ Manager is responsible for ensuring that customer requirements for Quality and EHS are implemented in line with the solutions sold to the customer at the site. The HSEQ Manager executes DP World Quality, Security, and EHS policies, procedures, and standards across site operations, ensuring compliance with ISO certifications, government regulations, customer requirements, and DP World standards. The HSEQ Manager also engages with relevant internal teams to interpret customer HSEQ requirements and support the development and implementation of appropriate HSEQ solutions at the site.
How you will contribute
HSEQ Leadership & Governance
- Lead the implementation of the site HSEQ strategy in line with regional and global HSEQ frameworks.
- Ensure alignment with corporate policies, customer requirements, and local regulatory obligations.
- Provide guidance and support to site management to strengthen risk ownership and operational discipline.
- Promote a strong HSEQ culture that prioritizes safety, environmental stewardship, and quality excellence.
Safety Excellence & Risk Management
- Implement critical risk controls, life-saving rules, and high-risk work programs such as Control of Work at the site.
- Support operational teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace risks.
- Lead incident investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis, quality reporting, and timely closure of corrective actions.
- Monitor site performance against safety KPIs and drive targeted improvement initiatives.
Operational Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct HSEQ assurance activities, including site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure the site maintains compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) and relevant local legislation.
- Support the implementation of HSEQ systems, tools, and digital platforms at the site.
- Maintain effective HSEQ documentation, controls, and management systems.
Environmental & Sustainability Management
- Implement environmental priorities at the site, including decarbonization, waste reduction, pollution prevention, and sustainable resource use.
- Ensure accurate environmental data collection, monitoring, and reporting.
- Support compliance with environmental regulations and internal sustainability targets.
Performance Improvement & Capability Building
- Build HSEQ capability across site teams through coaching, training, and technical support.
- Promote best practices and continuous improvement within site operations.
- Drive improvement initiatives using performance data and operational insights.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary HSEQ contact at the site.
- Collaborate with site leadership and operational teams to embed HSEQ into daily activities and planning.
- Engage with regulators, customers, and external auditors as required.
Key Performance Indicators
- Reduction in workplace incidents and high-potential events at the site.
- Closure rate and quality of corrective actions.

What you will bring
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in food quality management within warehousing or 3PL environments.
- Strong knowledge of EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848, HACCP, and FSSC 22000/ISO 22000.
- Proven experience with audits (third‑party and internal), non‑conformity management, CAPA, supplier approval, and customer quality performance.
- Solid understanding of HSEQ systems, regulatory requirements, incident investigation, and operational risk management.
- Ability to influence site leadership and collaborate effectively across functions.
Core Technical Experience
EU Organic Regulation (EU) 2018/848 - operator complicance
- Maintaining organic certification in warehousing/handling/packing/relabelling environments.
- Managing organic integrity controls, segregation, cleaning validation, and supplier/contractor verification.
- Ensuring full traceability and mass balance across all stages.
- Handling non‑conformities, corrective actions, and recall/withdrawal processes.
- Working with Italian control bodies (OdC) and managing audits, findings, and compliance documentation.
HACCP & Food Safety prerequisites (PRPs)
- Implementing and managing HACCP, hazard analysis, CCP/OPRP logic, and verification records.
- Strong knowledge of warehousing PRPs: hygiene, pest control, sanitation, foreign body control, allergens, zoning, training, and basic food defence/fraud.
FSSC 22000 (or ISO 22000) in operational environment
- Direct experience maintaining an FSSC 22000 certified system (or leading implementation to certification).
- Capability to run the full system cycle: managing internal audits, management review, KPIs, CAPA, change control, document control, incidents, and supplier management.
