Chief of Staff, Dropbox Core - Location Flexible
Role Description
The Chief of Staff, GM & VP of Dropbox Core is a critical role with high visibility within Dropbox. In this role, you will lead key strategic initiatives and own communications to make the Dropbox Core org and GM & VP more impactful. You will also play a major role in helping the GM & VP maintain a pulse on everything going on in the company and the Dropbox Core organization, and surfacing critical information to the GM & VP in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Overview
- Functions as a strategic partner with the GM & VP to maximize business outcomes; works autonomously and drives the strategic agenda of Dropbox Core
- Helps establish accountability practices across the business and maximize performance through extending the GM & VP’s surface area and reach
- Oversees cross-functional, organization-wide projects or initiatives, bringing together multiple stakeholders to help drive decisions and ensure alignment
Strategy
- Help manage to our goals and track achievement of goals; identify potentially disruptive opportunities and challenges on the horizon; build strategic analyses supported with data that tells a story
- Manage various cross-functional strategic processes owned by the GM & VP, from annual planning in partnership with appropriate stakeholders
- Drive strategic initiatives like M&A, cross-functional strategic processes, long-term vision/roadmap planning, working flawlessly in partnership with Commercial, Growth, Platform, Marketing and other adjacent areas where applicable
Communications
- Help with GM & VP’s communication up, down and sideways by aligning on structured and predictable ways for her to engage through different communication channels [also in partnership with the Comms team] and owning the rhythm
- Help the GM & VP prepare for speaking engagements with analysts, press, the Board, etc. as necessary [in partnership with Comms, AR, IR, StaffOps, etc.], by preparing research, talking points, and proactively ensuring she has all content and context required
- Act as a delegate for the GM & VP by attending meetings she cannot, representing the GM & VP’s voice faithfully and accurately
Culture / People
- Work with the GM & VP’s direct reports, VPs, HRBPs, and Core Ops to identify, surface, and execute on key areas of culture investment and organizational change
- Work with key partners in Recruiting to ensure that Recruiting is aligned on hiring priorities and we have effective reporting and accountability structures, including diversity recruiting
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience; background in top tier management consulting, finance and/or high growth technology organization strongly preferred
- MBA or Bachelors Degree in Business (or related field) preferred
- Creative problem solving (i.e. excels at identifying trends and patterns, developing root cause diagnoses, and using a diverse toolkit to address the root causes)
- Strong product and finance acumen. Demonstrated experience leading high-impact projects for the business, especially those which innovate, improve business execution, and/or span multiple products and teams.
- Structured thinker; good at framing decisions and unearthing the critical logic.
- Experience leading transformational org/team initiatives in a Cloud Computing/SaaS environment/industry a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent and showcase complex business or technical concepts with senior leadership.
- Excellent time management, intentional prioritization, ability to maintain and curate backlog (for yourself and GM/VP)
