The role

Full-time | Reports to Sr HR Manager | Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM | On-site 5 days/week | Pompano Beach, FL

Join Banyan Treatment Centers as an HR Specialist, supporting employees and leaders across a portfolio of facilities. You'll handle day-to-day HR work that keeps us compliant and running smoothly: leave case administration, employee relations support, HRIS transactions, onboarding, and audit-ready documentation.

This is a busy, high-volume role. It's a strong fit for someone looking to grow in their HR career, who communicates clearly, solution focused and stays highly organized. You'll work closely with the Sr HR Manager.

 Why join our team

Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for people facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG, one of the nation's largest private equity investors, Banyan has physical locations across 8 states and a growing virtual care platform.

We're building the Banyan Way: a scalable, modern people infrastructure and a consistent, high-quality employee experience at every location. Our HR team supports people who do hard, meaningful work every day.

 What it's really like
  • The volume is high. On a typical day you'll juggle employee questions, open leave cases, HR tickets, and a queue of transactions. Prioritizing well matters as much as working hard.
  • Employee relations. Our employees work in demanding clinical settings. You'll be a first point of contact for their concerns and need to respond with calm, care, and good judgment.
  • You won't carry it alone. The Sr HR Manager supports you in complex leave cases, reviews your work on sensitive matters, and coaches you along the way.
  • We promote from within. As you build skills in employee relations and leave management, there's a real path to HR Generalist and beyond.
 Key responsibilities

Leave administration

  • Administer FMLA, state leave, STD, and general LOA cases day to day, from first request through return to work
  • Confirm eligibility, send required notices and paperwork on time, and track certifications, deadlines, and return dates
  • Follow state-specific leave requirements (such as state family leave and paid sick leave) using our procedures and guidance
  • Support the ADA accommodation process by gathering documentation and scheduling interactive meetings, with the Sr HR Manager leading decisions
  • Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, and managers so pay, coverage, and staffing stay accurate during leave
  • Keep the leave tracker accurate and audit-ready, and flag complex or unusual cases early

Employee relations support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee concerns and questions; listen carefully, document the facts, and route matters to the right person
  • Assist with investigations by scheduling interviews, taking notes, and organizing documentation
  • Draft clear, objective summaries, corrective action documents, and follow-up communications for review
  • Track open ER matters so follow-ups and deadlines are not missed
  • Conduct monthly site leadership meetings for updates, relationship building and site-specific issues

HR operations and compliance

  • Process promotions, transfers, terminations, and other HRIS transactions, including internal offer letters and job documentation
  • Respond to HR tickets and employee questions promptly and accurately
  • Support a consistent onboarding experience across locations
  • Partner with Payroll so employee changes are reflected accurately across systems (Payroll owns payroll processing)
  • Help maintain accurate employee data during our transition to ADP
  • Enter and maintain new hire information in state-required portals per state and facility licensing requirements, including additions and removals
  • Track compliance items with Office Coordinators and Executive Directors: CEUs, licenses, 30/60/90-day and annual reviews
  • Keep employee files accurate and audit-ready; help prepare for state and accreditation audits
  • Answer employee benefits and eligibility questions and route enrollment issues to the Benefits team
  • Notify facility supervisors for any alerts received via our vendor, First Choice, involving criminal or MVR flags. Process and track accordingly.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in an HR support, coordinator, or specialist role
  • Some exposure to leave administration (FMLA or similar) or employee relations, or a strong aptitude to learn both quickly
  • High-school diploma/equivalent or higher
  • Strong communicator: writes clear, professional emails and documentation; speaks with employees and managers with tact and confidence
  • Critical thinker: asks good questions, notices when details don't add up, and knows when a situation needs to go to a manager
  • Highly organized: manages many open cases and deadlines at once, using trackers and systems so nothing falls through the cracks
  • Handles confidential information with discretion
  • Stays steady and accurate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Preferred

    • Multi-state leave law and our leave procedures
