The role in a nutshell:
We’re looking for an experienced HR Services Manager to oversee and deliver exceptional HR Services, managing and coordinating daily activities between the GEO business and In-Country Partners, Clients, and Workers to effectively and compliantly manage workers’ employment. As the HR Services Manager, you’ll manage the HR processes for our client workers while ensuring full compliance with Japan employment laws. You’ll also be the key contact for our clients and global teams, providing expert HR guidance and ensuring an outstanding employee experience.
How you will make a difference:
- Serve as the main HR contact for employees, managers, clients, and internal global teams.
- Manage end-to-end HR operations including onboarding, employee relations and offboarding, ensuring a seamless experience
- Ensure compliance with Japan labor laws, employment regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare and manage HR documentation such as employment contracts, renewals, confirmations, and other employee letters.
- Handle work pass and immigration processes (applications, renewals, cancellations, sponsorship transfers, etc.) in coordination with authorities and local partners.
- Oversee the monthly payroll cycle, social security submissions, and statutory filings with local partners.
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, and HR procedures.
- Support internal audits, HR reporting, and process improvements.
- Advise management and cross-functional teams on HR and employment matters specific to Japan.
What will give you an advantage:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally in a multinational or fast-paced global environment.
- The person should be based in or close to Tokyo, able to go back to office as required.
- The candidate should either hold a valid Dispatch Manager license or have successfully passed the Dispatch Manager exam (or able to take and pass the exam). This role will require the individual to be registered as the Dispatch Manager under our existing license.
- In-depth understanding of Japan labor and employment laws.
- Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English (written and verbal).
- Experience in mobility, client-facing HR roles, or international HR preferred.
- Proactive, organized, and able to make decisions independently while working as part of a global team.
