The HR Operations Analyst is a critical member of the HR Operations team, supporting workforce administration, employee data management, and payroll-related processes across the organization. This role partners with HR teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure operational excellence, data accuracy, and a seamless employee experience.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys solving problems, analyzing data, improving processes, and driving operational efficiency. Responsibilities
HR Operations & Transaction Management
- Process a variety of HR transactions, including employee data updates, job changes, and payroll-related activities.
- Manage payment file submissions and ensure timely, accurate processing.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve transaction issues, discrepancies, and escalations.
- Perform audits and quality reviews to maintain data integrity and operational accuracy.
- Develop and implement controls that support compliance and reduce operational risk.
Process Improvement & Data Analysis
- Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), business teams, and external vendors to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Analyze operational data and trends to identify root causes, drive informed decision-making, and improve service delivery.
- Support process improvement, automation, and transformation initiatives.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented solutions against business objectives and performance metrics.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, process documentation, and workflow guides.
Stakeholder Support & Project Participation
- Serve as a trusted resource for HR operational processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support evolving business needs.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and contribute to operational initiatives.
- Lead smaller projects and process enhancement efforts when applicable.
- Provide recommendations that improve efficiency, accuracy, and the employee experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, HR Operations, Payroll, Shared Services, or a related field.
- Experience working with HR systems and employee data.
- Understanding of HR processes, data governance, and operational controls.
- Experience with Workday or other Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
- Exposure to process improvement methodologies or continuous improvement practices.

Additional Information:
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). The ideal candidate will be located in Hartford, CT.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
