We are seeking an experienced Recruiter to help oversee recruitment activities for our organization.  Responsibilities include:

  • Maintains continuous communication with management to determine current and future recruitment needs.
  • Source qualified candidates using applicant tracking system, internet postings, specialized recruitment resources, employee referral programs, job fairs, professional affiliations and contacts, colleges and universities, social media, etc.  
  • Determines the suitability of the applicant for employment.  Analyzes information provided on a prospective employee's resume/application form, conducts a personal interview.  Performs further background reference investigation, i.e., prior employment references, transcripts, etc. to gain adequate information on which to base a selection decision. Takes into consideration previous experience, education, etc.
  • Determines salary based on salary structure and union contracts.
  • Follows up with the related clerical aspects of employment, such as notifying the department of employee's starting date and the requisition the employee is filling, etc.  Responsible for processing all authorization to fill requests for proper approval and track on monthly report.
  • Promotes from within" policy, should be, involved in the posting program. Under this program openings at all levels are posted, and employees can apply for any position for which they feel qualified. Responsible for weekly job postings and postings on the Agency’s web site and intranet.
  • Acts as liaison with area employment agencies, preparation and liaison with advertising agencies, processing and checking advertising agency billings, liaison with temporary agencies, recording status of authorized positions within the agency, employment verifications, employee referral programs
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with various community business and educational organizations to help promote Agency’s public relations and networking resources.
  • Responsible for distributing job descriptions to supervisors for all new employees upon hire
  • Processes all volunteer requests and coordinates placement with appropriate Program
Qualifications

This position is fully in-person in our main office located in Hauppauge, New York.

Education and/or Experience                                                   

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from accredited four-year college or university.  At least 3 to 5 years related recruitment experience.
