About Luma
Luma's mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities. We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
This is a rare and foundational opportunity to be our first dedicated HR hire in Singapore, shaping the entire employee experience from the ground up. You will be the operational architect and cultural catalyst, building the systems and setting the tone for our rapidly growing team, transforming our technological marvel into an indispensable tool for the world's leading creators.
- This is a 0-to-1 opportunity to build, not just maintain. You will:
- Own end-to-end HR operations for our Singapore entity, including employment contracts, MOM compliance, and benefits administration.
- Build and run our local onboarding experience, ensuring new hires are set up for success and productivity from day one.
- Serve as the go-to resource for employees in Singapore on all HR, payroll, and policy questions, providing clear and empathetic guidance.
- Partner with the global People team to localize policies, compensation frameworks, and programs specifically for the Singapore context.
- Manage critical relationships with local vendors, payroll providers, and government agencies (MOM, CPF Board, IRAS).
- Ensure continuous compliance with Singapore employment law, MOM regulations, and statutory requirements, proactively addressing changes.
- Oversee local payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in partnership with our payroll provider.
- Help build the unique culture and rituals that make our Singapore office a place people love coming to work.
- 4+ years of HR operations or generalist experience, with at least 2 years based in Singapore.
- Deep working knowledge of Singapore employment law, MOM regulations, CPF, and statutory leave requirements.
- Working knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes and compliance in Singapore, either directly or through HRIS/payroll vendors.
- A proven "builder" with a history of creating new systems and processes from scratch (0-to-1) in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of operating independently and making decisions without an established playbook.
- Strong communicator who can explain complex policy or compliance topics clearly to employees and leadership alike.
- Prior experience as the first local HR hire for a high-growth tech startup or scaling team expanding into Singapore.
- Experience with modern HRIS tools such as Rippling or Workday.
- A demonstrated passion for building exceptional employee experiences and fostering a vibrant company culture.
