We need a HR Onboarding and Benefits Specialist to support an exceptional employee experience from offer acceptance through long-term success. In this role, you’ll own the onboarding journey, support benefits administration, and partner closely with candidates, employees, and leaders to ensure smooth, compliant, and people-first HR operations. This is a full-time role and will work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, Utah.

What is a day in the life of a HR Onboarding and Benefits Specialist?

  • Coordinate and execute end-to-end onboarding for new hires, including background checks, desk setup, system access, and new hire orientation.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for onboarding candidates, guiding them through paperwork, timelines, and benefits enrollment.
  • Support benefits administration by assisting employees with enrollments, life event changes, and questions related to health, wellness, and retirement programs.
  • Proactively gather employee feedback on benefits and onboarding experiences, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Regularly review the health and utilization of our benefits plans, partnering with brokers and vendors to flag risks, cost drivers, and improvement areas.
  • Research and recommend enhancements to benefits offerings that support employee well-being, competitiveness, and cost effectiveness.
  • Partner with recruiting, payroll, and HR leadership to ensure a seamless transition from candidate to employee.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and related systems, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws.
  • Identify opportunities to improve onboarding and benefits processes through automation, documentation, and clearer employee communications.
  • Support annual open enrollment planning, execution, and employee education efforts.

What will I need to thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1-2+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR administrative role with demonstrated ownership and initiative
  • Strong knowledge of benefits programs and experience supporting benefits administration
  • Hands-on experience with onboarding new employees and supporting candidates through the hiring process
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic in sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with Workday preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

  • You will work closely with other HR team members such as Workday Analyst, HR Business Partners, Payroll, and Director of HR Systems, and will be supervised by the HR Director. You’ll also collaborate regularly with Talent Acquisition and People Operations leaders.
