JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Manager is responsible for supporting the Director of Human Resources, Europe, to deliver all aspects of human resource service to partners, associates and business service professionals in London. In addition, the HR Manager will work with the global HR team on relevant projects.

The HR Manager will act as a trusted advisor to partners and managers, providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, and people-related risk. The role is responsible for managing employee relations cases, coaching managers to build leadership capability, and partnering with business stakeholders to support the achievement of organisational objectives through effective people strategies.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

The HR Manger will report directly to the Director of Human Resources, Europe, and will also work closely with the Senior HR Manager and the rest of the London HR team. Communication and interaction with the wider global HR teams is regular and has a one-team approach.

The role will involve working closely with partners, associates and business service professionals as well as external vendors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 HR Business Partnering
  • Partner with partners and managers to provide strategic people advice and solutions that support organisational goals, workforce effectiveness, talent development, and employee engagement.
  • Use people data and insights to inform decision-making and drive business performance.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on people and organisational issues


Employee Relations

  • Lead and manage a broad range of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, harassment, bullying, and workplace conflict matters.
  • Conduct investigations and ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice on employment legislation, HR policies, and best practice.
  • Identify employee relations trends and recommend proactive interventions to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure all employee relations documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and compliant.
  • Manage probation and end of contract meetings.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and action planning.
  • Partner with leaders to improve employee experience and retention.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Training

  • Identify organisational, team, and management development needs through consultation with leaders, analysis of people data, and emerging business requirements.
  • Coordinate the delivery of internal and external training programmes, workshops, and development initiatives.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Employee Relations focused role working within a Law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Extensive experience managing employee relations cases from initial investigation through to resolution
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and influencing managers at all levels.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent mediation and conflict-resolution capabilities.

Attendance: Hybrid working policy: 3 days per week in the London office, 2 days remote working.  All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.

Technology Skills: Must be highly skilled in MS Suite – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  HR Hub and Greenhouse experience preferable

Skills Required
