Job Summary

This job is responsible for providing human resources leadership for our Manufacturing organization NMC. This role will serve as a local subject matter expert for all human resources, talent management and employee relations. Provides local/regional guidance for execution of corporate, business, and functional talent objectives. Responsible for all human resources, talent management and employee relations objectives for site/location. Will likely be expected to provide functional support for advising, consulting, and executing on business objectives working with other human resources and business leaders.  Will serve as a functional subject matter expert on local labor laws, regulations and processes depending on operating country.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes all site day to day staffing and hiring ramp-up, employee relations for the site/plant.

  • Partners with the local leadership team to understand and execute the site’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

  • Provides business and functional guidance and advice for execution of various human resources activities and business actions complying with local labor laws and customs.

  • Serves as a local subject matter expert on Novanta annual cycle processes to ensure effective deployment and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

  • Ensures timely and accurate information and data flow into HRIS system to drive SOX and functional compliance and overall HR data integrity

  • Effectively coordinates and executes human resources processes and programs to ensure human resources service delivery standards to employees are met. Processes may include, onboarding, handling employee inquires, organization announcements, preparing employee documents (offer letters, employment contracts, etc.), facilitating employee exits, providing recruiting support, time recording, training administration, etc.  

  • Leads the creation and execution of projects to influence Positive Employee Relations and drive employee engagement to minimize the need for third party intervention in the business.

  • Serves as a respected member of local HR team providing guidance and direction on human resources matters to site/plant leadership team members.

  • Analyzes trends in compensation; researches and proposes competitive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

  • Work with local leadership to manage and resolve employee relations and performance concerns

  • Applies functional knowledge and business acumen to contribute to the achievement of local business objectives and initiatives.   

  • Leads and participates functional and local special projects and assignments

  • Identifies ways to improve HR policies and procedures

  • Ensures that tasks and assignments are completed while maintaining a high level of quality and service for internal customers. 

  • Stays informed of local labor laws, company policies, procedures and having the ability to guide and direct business and functional colleagues, as well as, answer questions for employees.

  • Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management officer and the occupational safety specialist.

  • The manager is responsible for creating and maintaining facilities for his or her area of responsibility, and for giving instructions and taking other measures to ensure, maintain and improve occupational safety and environmental protection regarding occupational safety and environmental protection, the prevention of occupational accidents and environmental damage, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards.

Required Experience, Education, Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • Minimum five years human resource management experience preferred, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.

  • Full understanding of common human resources processes, practices, and policies within a manufacturing, engineering, or commercial environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
