SteerHealth is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Manager (U.S.) to lead Talent Acquisition and manage core HR Operations for our U.S. team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, understands U.S. HR compliance, and enjoys building scalable HR processes. You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to support recruitment, onboarding, benefits, compliance, and continuous employee experience initiatives.Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition (TA)
- Manage end-to-end U.S. recruitment across technical, healthcare, and business roles.
- Partner with hiring managers to define job descriptions, interview criteria, and hiring processes.
- Source and engage candidates via LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and passive outreach.
- Coordinate and conduct interviews and candidate assessments.
- Maintain a smooth and high-quality candidate experience from initial contact to offer.
- Manage and optimize the ATS to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with U.S. hiring standards.
HR Operations (U.S.)
- Lead U.S. onboarding and offboarding using Justworks, including:
- I-9 verification and compliance
- E-Verify processes
- Background checks and documentation
- Benefits setup and enrollment
- Maintain accurate U.S. employee records, contracts, and HR files in alignment with federal and state regulations.
- Coordinate bi-weekly payroll in Justworks (compensation changes, deductions, time-off updates).
- Manage U.S. benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, disability, life) including open enrollment and employee support.
- Draft offer letters, employment documents, HR policies, SOPs, and compliance guidelines.
- Provide day-to-day HR support related to benefits, policies, employee relations, and issue resolution.
- Support employee engagement activities, surveys, culture programs, and internal communications.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC, state-specific requirements).
- Maintain audit-ready compliance documentation and HR reports.
Performance & Compliance
- Support performance review cycles, goal-setting, and development frameworks.
- Maintain HR dashboards, people analytics, and workforce metrics.
- Recommend continuous improvements to HR policies, processes, and compliance documentation.
Requirements
Must-Have
- 2–5 years of Human Resources experience, specifically in U.S. HR Operations and U.S. Talent Acquisition.
- Hands-on experience with Justworks (onboarding, payroll coordination, I-9, E-Verify, and benefits administration).
- Strong understanding of U.S. HR fundamentals: onboarding, documentation, labor compliance, benefits, payroll coordination, and employee relations.
- Proven experience managing full-cycle U.S. recruitment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with HR tools and ATS platforms (Justworks, BambooHR, Lever, Greenhouse, etc.).
- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and a strong problem-solving approach.
- Experience working in a healthcare startup, healthtech environment, or SaaS-based company.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Knowledge of multi-state employment regulations.
- Ability to scale HR processes independently and work in a high-growth environment.
