Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of key HR functions including benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee relations. This role requires someone who operates with a high level of independence, can move quickly in a fast-paced environment, and handles sensitive HR matters with professionalism and sound judgment. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of HR experience and brings strong leadership skills along with deep functional expertise.

This is not a traditional 9–5 transactional HR role, this position is for someone who thrives in a performance-driven environment, takes initiative, and can be trusted to manage complex HR responsibilities with accuracy and discretion.

Responsibilities:

Compliance & HR Risk Management
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA and multi-state regulations.
  • Oversee HR risk areas, including investigations and workplace standards.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and required documentation.
  • Manage compliance audits, reporting requirements, and regulatory updates.
  • Lead required compliance training such as harassment prevention and code-of-conduct initiatives.
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders regarding performance issues, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
  • Manage sensitive employee relations matters with consistency, discretion, and thorough documentation.
  • Provide coaching to managers on employee performance, conduct expectations, and best practices.
Benefits Administration
  • Manage all employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability, retirement, and supplemental plans.
  • Oversee enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations, and benefit changes.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee questions and vendor coordination.
  • Partner with leadership on benefits evaluations, renewals, and compliance.
Payroll Oversight
  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing in partnership with payroll systems and vendors.
  • Ensure correct employee classifications, time and attendance tracking, and pay-related compliance.
  • Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with strong expertise in benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and operate with minimal direction.
  • Excellent organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-expectation, performance-driven environment.
