The Role

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead human resources for our recently acquired company. This critical role requires a unique blend of big company expertise and startup sensibility—a professional who can thoughtfully translate enterprise-level policies and procedures into our agile, entrepreneurial environment while preserving what makes our team culture special.

The Challenge

We're looking for an HR leader who can bridge two worlds: bringing in the structure, compliance, and best practices of a global organization while respecting the innovation, speed, and informality that defined our startup roots. You'll be the cultural translator and champion of sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Management

  • Design and roll out HR policies tailored to our small team while ensuring alignment with parent company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation philosophy and policies that balance market competitiveness with internal equity
  • Create performance management frameworks that drive accountability while fitting our team size and culture

Performance & Change Management

  • Create a culture of accountability where performance standards are clear and feedback flows regularly
  • Develop and facilitate training programs that build managers; capability to deliver constructive, direct feedback
  • Coach managers on difficult conversations and performance improvement plans when necessary
  • Navigate the delicate balance between startup autonomy and corporate governance requirements
  • Address cultural friction points proactively, including resistance to new processes or loss of ‘startup identity’
  • Build trust across the organization as the face of HR during a significant transition period
  • Preserve high-performing cultural elements while introducing necessary structure

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Investigate and resolve employee relations issues with fairness, confidentiality, and sound judgment
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, parent company policies, and ethical standards
  • Manage accommodation requests, workplace investigations, and disciplinary processes

Talent Management

  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for critical hires
  • Review and elevate onboarding experiences

HR Operations

  • Own HRIS administration, payroll coordination, and benefits enrollment
  • Generate workforce analytics and insights to inform business decisions
  • Manage the employee lifecycle from offer letter to offboarding
  • Serve as liaison with parent company HR centers of excellence and shared services

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a generalist or manager role
  • Proven experience working in or with large, matrixed organizations with established HR infrastructure
  • Direct experience creating HR policies from scratch or adapting enterprise policies for smaller teams
  • Demonstrated success addressing cultural challenges, particularly around accountability and feedback cultures
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification strongly preferred
