Main Responsibilities
Responsible for administration of the labor agreement at the unit/site. This includes interpretation of the agreement, training, discipline and other related matters. May also be involved in training others in the Industrial Relations area and supervising the production and maintenance employee hiring. This is the 2nd level Industrial Relations job at a large and more complex unit/site with a population of typically 500 production/maintenance positions. This job typically reports to an Industrial Relations (IR) Manager or combined Human Resources Ops Mgr. Other variables may affect the level of the IR Administrator/Supervisor job. This job may be larger than is typical for a given population if it involves additional functions not listed above or multiple collective bargaining agreements.
What Skills You Need
- Investigate, and propose solutions for, complex employee relations cases in liaison with line managers; coordinate the organization's response to legal cases brought by individuals; contribute to the preparation of legal submissions, and ensure all parties complete casework accurately and within deadlines.
- Build effective working relationships with local union and/or works council representatives; draft briefing papers to support formal consultations and negotiations.
- Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
- Contribute to stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns, arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
- Develop, test, and maintain procedures and guidelines to support the organization in the implementation of, and compliance with, internal policies and/or external regulations.
- Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients, building effective working relationships and providing high-quality professional services to support in delivering business strategy and plans.
- Build effective relationship with external companies and institutions to collect market information as well as maintain our reputation and image within the community.
- Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
- Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.

Education
Degree in Human Resources, Law, Industrial Relations, Public Accountant
