What We're Looking For:

At Smardt, our Phoenix manufacturing operations depend on talented people who take pride in quality, safety and getting the job done. We are looking for a hands-on HR Generalist who enjoys being where the action is: partnering with production leaders, supporting employees on the floor and helping us recruit and welcome the operators who keep our operation moving.

This is a varied, people-facing role for someone who can move comfortably between employee conversations, hiring activity and the HR details that keep a busy manufacturing site running smoothly.

What You'll Do:

Keep HR operations running well

  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation, and support compliance with applicable employment requirements and company standards.
  • Administer BambooHR processes and coach employees and managers on system use; manage timekeeping activities in ADP.
  • Coordinate employee files and workplace incident documentation with the health and safety coordinator.
  • Manage the production uniform and safety footwear programs, keep HR forms and procedures current, and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Provide practical day-to-day support to the HR lead on site projects and priorities.

Be a trusted presence for employees and leaders

  • Build relationships with hourly employees, supervisors and managers; be an approachable first point of contact for everyday HR questions.
  • Help address employee concerns, support fair conflict resolution and guide managers on HR policies and procedures.
  • Support performance-management activities and initiatives that strengthen engagement, communication and retention.

Support hiring and a great start

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and production leaders on hourly operator recruitment, including candidate screening, interview scheduling, hiring events and timely follow-up.
  • Coordinate pre-employment steps, new-hire paperwork, orientation and onboarding so new operators are ready and feel welcome from day one.
  • Help track hiring activity, onboarding progress and workforce needs as the operation grows.

What You'll Bring:

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of relevant HR experience; applicable internships or related experience may be considered.
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction is preferred; comfort supporting a fast-paced, hourly workforce is especially valuable.
  • Exposure to recruiting or onboarding hourly employees is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, discretion and a service-minded approach.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, follow through on details and work collaboratively with operations leaders.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and HR systems; experience with BambooHR or ADP is an asset.

Education/Certifications:

  • A certificate or post-secondary studies in Human Resources or a related field.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Health and Dental Benefits from day one.
  • 401K matching program.
  • A collaborative global environment with opportunities for growth.
