What the Role Involves

  • Administering HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Supporting the development, maintenance, and communication of employee policies, including the annual employee handbook review
  • Maintaining employee records and HR documentation within UKG (UltiPro), ensuring data accuracy
  • Preparing HR reports, metrics, organizational charts, employee directories, and ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives and performance management processes
  • Administering employee benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, claims resolution, and employee communications
  • Coordinating and managing annual Open Enrollment
  • Administering FMLA, ADA, leave of absence, and ACA-related processes
  • Managing Workers' Compensation claims, partnering with employees, managers, and vendors to ensure timely resolution and appropriate care
  • Responding to employee inquiries regarding benefits, leave, and HR policies
  • Leading full-cycle recruitment for corporate and field positions, including workforce planning, job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate selection, offer administration, and onboarding
  • Partnering with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies
  • Coordinating pre-employment screenings, background checks, and new hire documentation
  • Facilitating new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience
  • Providing guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, practices, and workplace concerns
  • Managing unemployment claims and responses
  • Maintaining compliance with EEO, Affirmative Action, and other employment-related reporting requirements, including preparation of the annual EEO-1 report
  • Coordinating employee separations and offboarding activities, including exit interviews, final documentation, system access changes, and reporting
  • Delivering and coordinating HR-related training on benefits, policies, procedures, and compliance topics
  • Managing the corporate travel program and coordinating travel arrangements for corporate and field employees
  • Participating in HR initiatives, process improvements, and special projects that support organizational goals

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and at least five years of relevant Human Resources and/or administrative experience
  • Experience administering HRIS platforms, preferably UKG (UltiPro)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience managing benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, and recruitment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems

Nice to Have

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification

Working Conditions

  • Indoor office environment with prolonged sitting and extended computer/screen use
  • Occasional evening or weekend work required to support Open Enrollment and other HR events
  • Occasional local travel for recruiting events, job fairs, and visits to other Smart City locations
  • Regular exposure to sensitive and confidential employee information, requiring sound judgment and discretion

Skills Required
