Position Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a foundational member of the Aftermath Services Human Resources team, responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of payroll and benefits as the primary function of the role. As Aftermath continues to build and mature its HR infrastructure as an independent organization, this position will also encompass leave program administration, HRIS management, compliance, safety, workers’ compensation, recruiting and onboarding support. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented, service-focused HR professional who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and ready to expand their generalist capabilities over time as systems and processes are established.

Key Responsibilities

General HR Administration

  • You’ll be responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the HR function by maintaining accurate employee records, assisting with the development and communication of HR policies and procedures, and supporting HR leadership with projects and initiatives as the organization’s HR infrastructure evolves. This role also manages routine HR correspondence, documentation, and reporting to ensure efficient day-to-day HR operations. 

Payroll Administration

  • You’ll be responsible for the administration and oversight of multi-state payroll operations for approximately 300 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing through our HRIS. This role partners closely with finance to maintain payroll reporting, account reconciliation, and tax compliance while ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour regulations. 

Benefits Administration

  • You’ll be responsible for the administration and oversight of the company’s benefits programs, including health and retirement plans ensuring accurate enrollment, compliance, and vendor coordination. This role partners with external brokers and administrators to manage benefit strategy, renewal analysis, regulatory reporting (including ACA and ERISA requirements), and benefits data integrity while supporting a positive benefits experience across the organization. 

Leave Program Administration

  • You’ll be responsible for administration and oversight of company leave programs, including federal, multi-state, and company-specific leaves. This role ensures compliance and applicable leave laws, provides guidance to team members and managers throughout the leave process.

HRIS & Systems Management

  • You’ll be responsible for administration and optimization of our HRIS platform, supporting payroll, benefits, recruiting, and onboarding modules. This role ensures data accuracy and system integrity, provides reporting and insights to the HR Manager and leadership, and partners with external vendors to support HR technology processes and ongoing system enhancements. 

Compliance, Safety & Workers’ Compensation

  • You’ll be responsible for HR compliance and risk management by ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. You’ll oversee workers' compensation administration, maintain required safety and compliance documentation, supports audit activities, and ensure accurate recordkeeping. 

Recruiting & Onboarding Support

  • You’ll be supporting the organization’s talent acquisition and onboarding processes by coordinating job postings, candidate communications, background screenings, and pre-employment requirements. This role helps ensure a smooth and compliant hiring and onboarding experience. 

Employee Relations Support

  • You’ll be responsible for providing frontline support to team members and managers by serving as a resource on company policies, procedures, and general employment matters. This role supports HR leadership in maintaining consistent policy application, documenting employee relations activities, and escalating complex matters as appropriate to ensure fair and compliant people practices across the organization. 

Basic Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of HR experience with demonstrated strength in payroll and benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state payroll processing and applicable wage and hour compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal leave laws including FMLA, ADA, and COBRA.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems; Paylocity experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with benefits administration including open enrollment and carrier coordination.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of relevant HR work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience supporting workers’ compensation administration and OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Experience working in a multi-state employer environment.
  • Background in a field services, operations, or distribution environment a plus.
