The Role
The HR Coordinator works directly with and reports to the Director of Human Resources, owning the day-to-day administration behind payroll, benefits, recruiting, and onboarding. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who wants full-cycle exposure across the HR function.
What You'll Do
- Review time cards for accuracy and timeliness, following up with managers and employees on discrepancies
- Process new hire, pay change, and termination data accurately and on time for each pay cycle
- Compile and verify garnishments, PTO, and benefits deductions for payroll accuracy
- Process employee change requests (direct deposit, tax withholding, address updates)
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and research/resolve processing issues
- Enroll, term, and process changes for group insurance programs (medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), HRA, COBRA)
- Maintain the online 401(k) employee database and produce benefits reporting as needed
- Manage workers' compensation claims from filing through resolution
- Post jobs, pre-screen candidates, and acknowledge resumes as part of the full hiring cycle
- Draft offer letters, prepare offer packets, and coordinate background checks and drug screenings
- Lead New Hire Orientation, including benefits and policy overviews and completion of new hire paperwork
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready personnel files for all employees
- Support schedule management for client site teams
- Produce general HR activity reports and support ad hoc HR projects
What We're Looking For (Required)
- Experience in HR administration, payroll, or benefits coordination
- Hands-on experience processing payroll and reviewing time card data
- Experience administering group benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k), HRA, COBRA)
- Experience coordinating background checks, drug screenings, and new hire paperwork
- Comfort working directly with employees on sensitive payroll/benefits inquiries
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping/audit discipline
- Experience with HRIS or online benefits enrollment platforms
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting workers' compensation claims administration
- Experience in a multi-site or client-services environment
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification
