The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is an important part of the People fostering a high-performance culture by supporting leaders and associates across our Distribution Center(s) and support functions at Peter Millar. This role will serve as the main point of contact on the day-to-day people operations for employees in designated business groups. The HRBP is responsible for supporting the designated business function’s talent strategy, performance management, employee engagement and employee relations. This position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service that reflects the business objectives of the organization. We are seeking an experienced and results driven HR Business Partner to align our HR initiatives and function with business objectives and business needs. This position is located in the RTP office and Distribution Center.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as a partner and to counsel to DC leadership and Durham office department heads on people-related issues (e.g. performance, development, engagement and workforce planning)
  • Support managers with Performance Management, assisting with the annual review process as well as follow up reviews; launch goal setting and bi-annual goal follow up with departments for their employees.  
  • Strategize ways to improve the relationship between the company’s leadership and their employees.
  • Advise business on people issues and provide guidance related to strategy and performance.
  • Collaborate with leaders to execute workforce planning, shift alignment and staffing models based on seasonal and business needs.
  • Ensure appropriate use of metrics to gauge program success to include the effectiveness of strategies, turnover, accidents, competitive hiring and other engagement measures.  
  • Research and schedule training as identified as part of Performance plans; research and implement monthly lunch and learns.
    • Ensure required compliance training is launched, tracked and obtains full participation. 
  • Serve as a key resource for employee relations throughout the employee life cycle from onboarding, to leave of absences to exits.
  • Help oversee and create job descriptions to attract talented candidates. Analyze turnover, absenteeism, and other HR metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a visible, approachable HR presence across shifts and functions.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience.
  • Customer Service and Distribution Center/warehouse experience a plus
  • Experience in performance management, workplace investigations, conflict management and employee relations a must
  • Experience administering benefits, leave of absences and payroll highly desired
  • PHR or SPHR certification a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
