Job Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic and hands-on role that supports the alignment of HR practices with business goals. The HRBP acts as a consultant to management on human resource-related matters and is responsible for guiding and influencing effective people practices across their supported functions. This role serves as a trusted advisor, helping to anticipate needs, manage employee relations, drive performance, and implement HR programs and initiatives. The HRBP partners closely with other HR functions—including Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Compensation, Benefits, and HR Operations—to deliver a seamless and value-added experience to leaders and employees.

This position supports a designated manufacturing facility within the organization, which may include employees across multiple buildings, locations, or functional business units. In addition, occasional travel (up to 5%) may be required to other company locations across the U.S. While travel may occur up to once per quarter (typically for up to one week), some quarters may require no travel unless attending optional events such as conferences or training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary HR point of contact for assigned location, providing guidance to employees and leaders on HR policies, practices, and employee lifecycle matters.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support workforce planning, interview coordination, and successful new hire integration.
  • Provide proactive coaching and support to leaders on topics such as performance management, career development, employee engagement, team dynamics, and disciplinary actions.
  • Partner with leaders to address employee relations matters, including facilitating resolutions and conducting or supporting investigations when needed.
  • Liaise with plant leadership and Talent Development to coordinate and/or facilitate training initiatives (e.g., onboarding, compliance training, leadership development, etc.).
  • Participate in organizational development efforts such as workforce planning, team assessments, talent reviews, and succession planning.
  • Support execution of employee engagement and retention strategies, including feedback sessions, action planning, and recognition initiatives.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with the company’s values and Open-Door philosophy.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance; partners with the Legal Department as needed.
  • Support HR program compliance, including posting requirements, policy implementation, and audits.
  • Utilize HR metrics and data to identify trends and recommend solutions that support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in or lead special projects or process improvement efforts as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup for other HR Business Partners or the HR Manager as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law (federal, state/provincial), and regulatory compliance in the U.S.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, change management, and organizational design.
  • Foundational knowledge of project management principles and tools
  • Understanding of leadership development and people management best practices

 

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence, advise, and present confidently at the executive level (executive presence).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolutions skills

 

Abilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives or project teams.
  • Ability to coach leaders at all levels, especially around performance, communication, and team development.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential matters with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to influence and support leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel locally across a large campus and occasionally to other U.S. and Canadian locations.

 

Education and Experience:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of prior HR experience, including at least 2 years in an HR Business Partner or consultative HR role.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulatory compliance across multiple U.S. states.

 

Preferred:

  • HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Experience supporting employees within a manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated ability to work with executive leadership and coach people leaders
  • Familiarity with HR functions supporting both hourly and salaried employees
  • Experience leading or supporting talent initiatives such as succession planning or organizational design.
  • Experience leading projects or initiatives with cross-functional impact.
  • Experience supporting recruitment or workforce planning in a manufacturing facility.

 

Working Conditions:

The position typically operates during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility may be required to accommodate meetings across time zones, multi-shift operations, or to support critical business needs. The employee is expected to comply with all company policies related to data security, confidentiality, and remote work standards.

Periodic travel may be required for team meetings, training, or company events, with advance notice provided. The company will reimburse travel expenses in accordance with its travel and expense policy.
