Who we are:

Financeit is a point-of-sale financing provider serving some of the largest home improvement and retail organizations in Canada.

Our platform helps businesses close more sales by offering customers affordable monthly payment options for their next big home improvement, vehicle or retail purchase.

We are small enough that you can make an impact within the company and large enough to make an impact in the market.

Financeit is a company where collaboration, inclusivity, fairness, and respect aren’t just ideas that get talked about, but are part of who we are. If such a workplace intrigues you, we hope you’ll join us.

About the role:

As our HR Business Partner, you will be the heartbeat of our people operations and the bridge between leadership strategy and employee experience. Reporting directly to the VP, People Success, you will lead the charge in fostering a high-performance culture while ensuring our foundational HR processes are flawless.

What you'll be doing:

Driving High Performance & Growth

  • Coaching the Coaches: You’ll spend significant time as a consultant to our managers, helping them navigate tough conversations, build better teams, and grow their leadership skills.
  • Leadership Development: You will own formal leadership development at all levels of the organization, from needs analysis to program design and rollout.
  • Operationalizing Success: You’ll lead annual rollout of Job Effectiveness Plans (JEPs) and our performance review cycles, ensuring "excellence" isn't just a buzzword, but something we measure and reward.
  • Strategy & Insights: You’ll dive into our people data to find the "why" behind the numbers—presenting insights on turnover, engagement, and culture to help us make smarter business decisions.
  • Talent Reviews & Succession: Partnering with the Senior Talent Partner you will contribute to the Talent Review process, identifying high-potential employees and ensuring we have a robust internal pipeline for future leadership.

Curating the Employee Experience

  • Taking the Pulse: You’ll own our employee engagement surveys, but you won't just look at the scores—you’ll design the action plans that address them.
  • Leading the Narrative: From Town Halls to internal announcements, you’ll be the voice of our culture, ensuring our team feels heard, informed, and inspired.
  • Navigating the Nuance: You’ll handle the "whole bucket" of employee relations. You’re the calm in the storm, resolving conflicts and conducting investigations with empathy and total professionalism.

Compliance & Operational Oversight

  • Compliance: You’ll own our health and safety program and annual policies review process, as well as oversee compliance training completion throughout the year.
  • Mentoring Your Direct Report: You will lead and grow our HR Generalist, providing the guidance they need to execute flawless HR Operations, while helping them develop their HR advisor experience as well.
  • Payroll and Benefits: While you aren't in the weeds of every data entry, you’ll provide the oversight to ensure our benefits and payroll are compliant, competitive, and humming along perfectly.

Requirements
  • Proven Track Record: You have 6–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a Business Partner or Manager-level role.
  • Leadership: You have managed at least one direct report before and know how to lead by example and from experience.
  • ER Expertise: You aren't afraid of hard conversations. You know how to balance legal compliance with a human approach. You have managed some complex employee relations including workplace investigations.
  • Payroll & Benefits Oversight: You don't need to run payroll daily, but you must have a high level of understanding of payroll cycles, tax compliance, and benefits management to oversee the HR Generalist and their responsibilities.
  • Talent Management: You have experience designing or executing performance review and Goal-setting cycles and know how to align them to business goals.
  • The "Consultant" Mindset: You can influence senior leadership and provide push-back when necessary, acting as a true advisor to the VP.
  • Automation Interest: You are excited by what the world of AI can offer us and have already used your best judgement to implement some AI driven solutions in smart ways.
