Hastings Deering is seeking a values driven Human Resources Advisor to join our People & Culture team in Mackay. This permanent, Monday to Friday role will provide trusted HR advice and support to our operational teams while contributing to projects and initiatives that strengthen both our people and our business.
As a HR Advisor at Hastings Deering, you will:
Contribute to the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose HR projects, processes, and systems that build organisational and people capability.
Act as a trusted advisor to multiple customer groups, providing balanced and practical HR advice that aligns with company policy and legislative requirements.
Assist with risk assessment and mitigation by applying objective, well-reasoned judgment that balances outcomes and employee wellbeing.
Support HR Business Partners and Employee Relations Manager across a range of people matters including performance management, union engagement and education initiatives.
Proactively review and monitor changes in Australian HR and industrial relations legislation to ensure compliance and help leaders understand impacts on operations.
Manage project tracking, reporting and stakeholder updates for HR strategy and projects.
Provide leave coverage for HR Business Partners.
Build strong and trusted partnerships with leaders and employees to deliver timely, effective, and value driven HR support.

What you’ll need:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a large organisation
Sound knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and relevant awards.
Experience in delivery of transactional and tactical HR Services.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
A values-led mindset, demonstrating your ability to Act with Integrity, Care for All and Win Together through collaboration and balanced decision making.
