HPE Cray – Supercomputing for the Exascale Era

Today’s science, technology, and big data questions are bigger, more complex, and more urgent than ever. Answering them demands an entirely new approach to computing -- and HPE Cray supercomputers are up to the challenge. We’re introducing revolutionary capabilities for revolutionary questions, and HPE Cray systems are the foundational building blocks for scientists and researchers around the world.

HPC Information Developer

In this position you will collaborate with knowledge management project leads and HPE Cray engineering teams to create, revise, edit, maintain, and publish multiple content deliverables related to HPE Cray Supercomputing and Slingshot software and hardware. Deliverables may include technical guides and documentation for system and operating software installation, system administration, system monitoring, system diagnostics, user access node installation and administration, compute software, workload management, firmware, command line interface, online help, and more.

The primary duties for this position are expected to include:

  • Create technical product documentation for software products and hardware
  • Analyze customer information requirements and product specifications to define scope of work and documentation plan
  • Identify and address the needs of all user groups, including end users, system administrators, internal support engineers, product developers, integration test teams, and training developers
  • Test documentation for install or administrative tasks to improve information deliverables and provide feedback on ease of use and user interfaces to product development
  • Manage workload in Jira and source management tools, including SDL, Oxygen, Git, and Github, to manage changes in the shared work environment
  • Create, revise, and manage content in Oxygen Author (DITA), Markdown, and other content tools
  • Work with developers, testers, product managers, technical support, and training to identify new features and content that needs to be reworked

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communications, Computer Science, or related technical/communications field with 4-6 years related experience
  • Advanced University degree and 2-4 years' experience or equivalent.
  • Understands concepts and develops in-depth working knowledge of products, applications, and systems in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ability to deliver on multiple project technical requirements, schedules, and information formats.
  • Codes in HTML, DHTML, XML, JavaScript or similar as required. May provide help systems that are integrated with software products that use proprietary coding methods.
  • Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues and recommends appropriate alternatives.
  • Works on problems of diverse complexity and scope.
  • May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process.
  • Exercises independent judgment to identify and select a solution.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of HPC system software and hardware components, including operating systems, programming languages, system monitoring applications, HPC storage, chassis, servers, compute nodes, blades, HPC storage, coolant systems, power supplies, high speed network switches and cabling, and more
  • Knowledge of software infrastructure, development processes, software testing, system integration, release planning, software testing, and process automation
  • In depth knowledge of DITA, DITA-OT, CCMS, SDL Tridion Docs
  • Proficient with content development tools, such as Oxygen Author, Markdown, reStructuredText, HTML, Adobe Acrobat
  • Proficient with content delivery and publishing to customer-facing support sites
  • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems as a user and as a writer for developers and system administrators
  • Familiar with Docs-as-Code, REST APIs, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or Git - huge plus
  • Familiar with PanDoc, Typora, VSD, and similar tools
  • Familiar with Generative AI application to content development, styles and standards QA, providing consistent voice across content deliverables, and improving the customer experience
  • HPE Cray Supercomputing product experience welcomed
