We help you speak to global audiences by translating your games for your target language and dialect, and ensure expert quality control throughout the game development and translation process through both technology solutions and human oversight.

Role overview:

We are looking for a dynamic English writer / editor to join our localization team on our next adventure. With a passion for videogames, style and strong sense of quality, you will directly impact the player experience with texts that bring our characters to life and make the content compelling and culturally relatable to the player community.

In this fully in-house position, you will use your creative mind and academic skillsets to help shape the stories of the future! You will review content localized from Japanese to English and apply your skills to seasonal and permanent content, as well as offer cards, informational popups, and just about anything else the player might read in-game!

This role requires excellent language skills, creativity and a passion for Games.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a consistent voice that reflects the game's overall vision and aligns with its target audience
  • Work closely with the localization and quality team game to ensure that the writing meets the game requirements and standards
  • Adapt game content for different regions, ensuring cultural and linguistic nuances are handled correctly
  • Ensure all written content meets the highest quality standards: culturally accurate, clear, and grammatically sound

Overview of the main assignments:

  • Review & proofread English content previously localized from Japanese per the linguist team
  • Re-write content to maximize its’ consistency with legacy content as well as alignment with cultural references and style
  • Create, review and maintain style guides, glossaries and translation memories
  • Fix linguistic bugs reported by the testing team
  • Provide support and linguistic feedback to internal & external teams
  • Become a subject matter expert on the game and its’ content

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Copywriter / video games linguist (in-house or freelancer)
  • Native level proficiency in both spoken and written English
  • Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 certification or equivalent capability
  • BS or BA degree in English literature, translation or related field
  • Experience working with Cat Tools
  • Availability to work exclusively in-house from our Keywords Tokyo studio
  • Passion for videogames
