- The UX Lead – HMI Design plays a key role in shaping and enhancing the
user experience across the vehicle’s infotainment system, including the
Instrument Cluster (IPC), Head Unit, Head-Up Display (HUD), physical controls,
and multimodal feedback such as sound and voice.
- This role involves contributing from the early stages of new design
projects, while also proposing experience improvements for existing systems to
ensure intuitive, safe, and emotionally engaging interactions while driving.
- The position requires
strong system-level design thinking, the ability to analyze user behavior in
real-world driving contexts, and the capability to anticipate and define future
UX directions. The ideal candidate actively researches emerging automotive technologies
(e.g., ADAS, electrification, personalization, multimodal interaction) to
deliver forward-thinking UX concepts that are both innovative and feasible —
aligned with global design standards and product strategy.
- Propose
and develop design concepts for both new infotainment projects and
improvements to existing systems, covering components such as the
Instrument Cluster (IPC), Head Unit, HUD, physical controls, and
sound/voice feedback.
- Analyze
user behavior, pain points, and usage scenarios in the driving context to
define user-centric interaction models
- Research
emerging trends and technologies in the automotive industry (e.g., ADAS,
EV interfaces, personalization, multimodal interaction) to shape
future-ready UIUX strategies.
- Create wireframes, user flows, and low- to
mid-fidelity prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively to
internal stakeholders
- Collaborate closely
with UI/UX designers, researchers, product owners, and software engineers to
ensure UX ideas are translated into practical and implementable designs
- Participate in
usability testing, expert reviews, and in-vehicle validation activities to
assess and iterate on UX proposals
- Benchmark competitor
systems (both within and outside the automotive domain) to identify best
practices and opportunities for differentiation
- Produce clear and
structured UX documentation (e.g., behavior specifications, user flows) to
support development and validation teams
Requirements
1. Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s
or Master’s degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human Factors,
Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Design, or related fields.
- At
least 7 years of experience working in UX design, with a minimum of 3
years in a UX Lead role, focusing on defining UX direction, proposing
design strategies, and ensuring experience quality across complex digital
systems.
- Hands-on
involvement in both new feature ideation and iteration of existing systems.
2. UX Skills
- Ability
to translate business goals, user problems, and stakeholder needs into
clear UX strategies and experience concepts.
- Proficient
in:
- Information
architecture design
- Building
user flows, behavior flows, and scenario-based interaction logic
- Creating
state diagrams and activity diagrams to model system behavior and
exceptions
- Designing
wireframes and interactive prototypes
- Skilled
in user research methods and experience validation, including:
- Usability
testing, A/B testing, eye-tracking, driver distraction testing, and
simulated/real driving scenarios
- Applying
UX heuristics and conducting expert reviews
- Ability
to define and manage UX design patterns for standard interaction behaviors
(e.g., notification, state change, confirmation).
- Able to
define and track UX performance indicators (e.g., task completion rate,
time on task, error rate, SUS score) and propose data-driven design
improvements.
3. Change Management & UX Roadmap Skills
- Able to
manage UX change requests systematically, ensuring traceability, clear
rationale, and impact assessment before implementation.
- Coordinates
with product, engineering, and QA teams to align UX changes with
development milestones and avoid late-stage design rework.
- Tracks
and controls out-of-scope design changes, evaluates their potential
impact, and communicates implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Participates
in roadmap planning by identifying long-term UX opportunities through
early research, aligning user needs with business goals and product
strategy.
- Skilled
in prioritizing features and recommending trade-offs based on cost-benefit
analysis, user value, technical constraints, and timing.
4. Tools & Communication
- Proficient
in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Protopie.
- Familiar
with requirement and task management tools such as Jira, CodeBeamer, and
Microsoft Project, enabling effective tracking and cross-functional
alignment.
- Capable
of creating and maintaining clear UX documentation, including flows,
wireframes, design rationales, and implementation notes for developers and
testers.
