Job Description: Performs both routine and complex histologic techniques such as enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and immunofluorescence on tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist to diagnose disease. Must be knowledgeable in the areas of pathology, management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histotechnology
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties of the technical assistant as necessary, including accessioning
- Gross patient tissue according to protocol
- Carefully and efficiently embed tissue according to protocol.
- Produce diagnostically optimal sections at an acceptable rate
- Performs routine and special stains. • Performs Immunohistochemistry procedures
- Performs routine and high complexity testing
- File paraffin blocks.
- Alert lead tech and supervisor of low inventory of supplies and reagents
- Performs and documents maintenance on equipment
- Helps troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Document quality issues
- Communicate problems effectively
- Read and follow all policies and procedures
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Read emails and respond accordingly.
- Engage with everyone in a respectful and professional manner
- Demonstrate teamwork by assisting others when possible
- Performs other duties when assigned
- Evaluate test controls and help troubleshoot problems
- Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements
- Histology Program Completion
- 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing minimum
- 3 years of histology bench experience performing high complexity testing and ASCP certification preferred
