JOB DESCRIPTION:

The HIM Technician is a key member of the Health Information Management team. The HIM Technician will work under the direction of the Manager of Health Information Management The HIM Technician  position will be responsible for performing functions related to document imaging, document retrieval (department rounding), processing of hospital death records and files, and reception and release of information to ensure compliance with guidelines/requirements related to patient confidentiality and release of information.  Prepare and scan documents, ensuring correct patient identifiers. Perform quality control to ensure the electronic document/image posts to the correct patient’s visit.  

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Able to work as a member of a team and also independently.
  • Understand and follow safe work practices.
  • Ensure that all Amberwell procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
