Job Description: Hill College Navigator

Department: Student Learning & Success 

Reports To: Dean of Educational Partnerships

Pay Classification: Part Time ($24.90/hr)

 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The Hill College Navigator serves as the primary point of contact and support for dual credit students, faculty, and Independent School District (ISD) partners. This position facilitates academic planning, enrollment, advising, and program coordination to ensure a seamless transition between high school and postsecondary education. The role emphasizes student success, partnership development, and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Required

Education:                                      Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, instruction, or a related field

                                                         Master’s degree preferred 

Minimum Required 

Experience:                                   Three (3) to five (5) years of instructional, administrative, or administrative support experience

                                                         Experience utilizing technology and educational systems to support student services

                                                         Work experience in secondary or higher education preferred.

   

Core Duties and 

Required Knowledge:                   Serve as a visible, customer service–oriented representative of Hill College, fostering strong relationships with dual credit and non-dual credit students, ISD partners, faculty, and college administration.

                                                          Support all aspects of dual credit partnerships with Independent School Districts, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

                                                          Assist prospective and current students with applications for admission, scholarships, financial aid, and graduation processes.

                                                          Guide students through next steps including program selection, academic planning, testing, registration, and completion requirements.

                                                          Serve as a liaison between students, dual credit faculty, ISD administrators, and Hill College departments to ensure access to academic and career information and services.

                                                          Identify and refer students from specialized populations (e.g., international, veteran, athletic, scholarship, financial aid) to appropriate Hill College faculty or staff.

                                                          Conduct initial application, advising, and registration support by introducing students to navigators, advisors, or coordinators and assisting with use of student systems including portals, email, learning management systems, and other college platforms.

                                                          Assist faculty with roster certification, grade reporting, learning management systems, and related instructional technologies.

                                                          Maintain working knowledge of admissions, registration, and financial policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

                                                          Maintain proficiency in institutional database systems including Docubase, ApplyTexas, and Jenzabar.

                                                          Support and promote the Hill College mission, vision, values, and standards of conduct while adhering to institutional policies and procedures.

Strategic Vision and 

Program Development:               Collaborate with school districts and instructional leadership to assess needs and support the development and implementation of dual credit programs and courses.

                                                          Assist in ensuring compliance with high school, college, state, and other applicable academic standards.

                                                          Contribute to continuous improvement of dual credit services by identifying opportunities to enhance student experience and program effectiveness.

Collaboration:                               Maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, ISD partners, and community stakeholders.

                                                         Participate in professional development activities and conduct presentations for students, parents, and ISD partners as needed.

                                                         Work collaboratively across departments to support student success initiatives and institutional goals.

                                                         Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining a welcoming and safe environment that provides a sense of belonging for all.

Other Information:                       Weekend and evening work required during designated times

                                                          Travel to other Hill College locations as needed

                                                          Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license

                                                          Security-sensitive position

                                                          Performs other duties as assigned 

Physical Requirements:                Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work.


Skills Required
