Role Summary:
This role is part of the U.S. Employer (USE) Large Group Commercial Pricing Methodology team, which is responsible for ensuring pricing accuracy and consistency across Cigna Healthcare’s core medical products and funding arrangements. The position plays a critical role in developing and maintaining rating methodologies that support competitive and financially sound pricing strategies. This position offers the opportunity to influence pricing strategy and methodology, enhance accuracy across products, and partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights.
Core Responsibilities:
- Member of USE large group commercial pricing methodology team
- Conduct experience studies to update assumptions for Medical Pricing rating variables
- Develop and perform analysis to monitor and explain rate relativities across Cigna’s core medical products and funding options
- Improve pricing accuracy and alignment via methodology studies
- Monitor actual results vs expected
- Test and ensure accuracy of implemented changes in rating tools
- Proactively communicate key findings
- Collaboration with Matrix partners
- Point person to help explain concepts & rate impacts to the market pricing & underwriting teams
- Rating System updates - Communicating new model requirements for use by Pricing Enablement
- Support underwriting Helpdesk questions related to end-to-end pricing assumptions.
Qualifications:
- 5 - 8 years professional work experience in an actuarial or related field
- Completed and passed at least 4 actuarial exams, preferably SOA
- A bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance economics, data analytics or related major
- Operate with a strategic and innovative mindset
- Able to manage complexity and ambiguity
- Outstanding technical skills: Excel proficiency preferred, coding experience in Python, R, SQL, a plus
- Analytical skills: Ability to think critically, problem solve and drive business impact
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong demonstrated ability to lead paired with initiative and curiosity
