How You’ll Make a Difference

Truck and rail equipment keeps critical operations moving, and your work helps make sure it stays safe, reliable, and ready for the job. As a Truck & Rail Technician 3, you’ll bring advanced technical knowledge to diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment at customer sites and in the shop.

You’ll also be someone the team can turn to when a problem gets complicated. Your experience will help develop other technicians, strengthen customer relationships, and reinforce our Safety First culture every day.


What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain truck and rail equipment, including diesel and gas engines, transmissions, drive systems, hydraulics, brakes, steering, electrical systems, lifting systems, and related components.
  • Perform major component repairs, rebuilds, inspections, preventive maintenance, basic welding, and failure analysis while following manufacturer specifications and safe blocking, chocking, and equipment-handling practices.
  • Serve as a technical resource for fellow technicians, share your experience with the team, complete required technical training and certifications, and support Service leadership in bringing great people onto the team.
  • Take ownership of the details that keep the job running right, including accurate service documentation, parts and supplies, company vehicle care, and compliance with Briggs safety practices and applicable DOT, OSHA, federal, state, and local requirements.


What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience repairing truck, rail, material handling, heavy equipment, or related industrial equipment, with strong mechanical aptitude and advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • High school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; mechanical or trade school training and relevant industry certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges, along with the technical knowledge needed to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
  • A Safety First mindset, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to perform hands-on work that includes frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 75 pounds. You’ll furnish your own tools and be available for customer-site travel and on-call work as needed.
