Western Branch Diesel, a subsidiary of Indel Power Group, has an opening for a Help Desk Technician at our location in Portsmouth, VA. This individual should be friendly, customer-oriented IT professional who is looking for an opportunity to multi-task, thrive, and grow in a fast-paced work environment. The Help Desk Technician will interact with all levels and departments within our company to provide technical advice, troubleshoot, and support users. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical hardware and software issues in person, remotely, and via telephone 
  • Help desk, user support, and line-of-business application support  
  • Work in a centralized team to answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone, voice mail, e-mail, remote and in person requests
  • Interview users to collect information about problems and lead users through diagnostic procedures to determine the source of error  
  • Identify and discuss root causes of user technical issues  
  • Identify and discuss vulnerabilities or areas of poor system performance  
  • Keep system documentation up to date, including configurations and inventory  
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention  

Requirements

  • One year of computer help desk experience, preferred
  • English proficiency, strong written and verbal communication skills, required
  • Working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, versions 7, 8/8.1, and 10
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Understanding of domain managed systems, LAN/WAN architecture 
  • Problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Network+ certification, recommended
