About Healthy Gamer
If you grew up on the Internet like us, you know mental health is more important than ever. But many people face obstacles when seeking traditional mental health care, like finding the right support or having the right insurance.
At Healthy Gamer, we think modern mental health care should be inclusive and affordable. Our coaching service has helped over 20,000 people across 120 countries since it launched in November 2019. Our movement is gaining traction. We have 2.9M YouTube subscribers and 670k followers on Twitch.. And we’re working on even more resources to help people find a way forward when they need it.
We’ve made an impact in our online community, but that’s not where our mission ends. We want to change how people think about and deal with mental health, and we’re looking for passionate people to help us get there.
About the Practicum
Healthy Gamer’s NBC-HWC Practicum is a structured, supervised opportunity for recent graduates of NBC-HWC-approved coaching programs to complete their required coaching sessions toward board certification. This practicum is designed as an educational and professional development experience — providing mentorship, client interaction, and feedback to help you grow as a coach and prepare for successful NBC-HWC certification.
Please note: This practicum is time-limited, unpaid, and does not guarantee a contract to provide coaching services with Healthy Gamer.
Key Details
- Duration: 12 weeks minimum
- Commitment: Complete at least 50 coaching sessions with 5 different clients
- Supervision: Weekly supervision meetings are mandatory
- Time: Flexible scheduling based on client availability and your time zone
- Remote: 100% virtual practicum experience
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of an NBC-HWC-approved training program within the last 12 months
- Successful completion of the Practical Skills Assessment (Rubric)
- Willingness to begin coaching sessions only after acceptance into the practicum and completion of the Healthy Gamer onboarding overview
- Agreement not to coach friends, family, or current classmates for practicum hours
Program Commitments
- Conduct a minimum of 50 coaching sessions with at least five different clients
- Participate in weekly supervision meetings
- Allow your supervisor access to coaching notes and session materials (client confidentiality will always be maintained)
- Adhere to all NBC-HWC Code of Ethics and Healthy Gamer policies, including maintaining professional scope and boundaries
- Refrain from soliciting clients for private practice, accepting direct payments, or recruiting HG clients for other services
- Direct all service-related inquiries to HG Customer Service
Learning & Development Focus
This practicum is designed to deepen your coaching practice through real-world experience, mentorship, and feedback. Participants will refine their skills, strengthen their coaching presence, and gain confidence working with diverse clients while completing the required sessions to sit for the NBHWC exam.
