Working closely with Product Management, Distribution, Delivery, Markets Technology and key enterprise stakeholders, this role will influence how Australia’s financial markets continue to operate, evolve and compete.

What you’ll be responsible for

Strategy, platform ownership and change

  • Set and execute the business and platform strategy for ASX Trading Services, aligned to ASX’s broader strategy, licence obligations and the changing needs of Australia’s financial markets.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ASX’s trading platforms, including roadmap prioritisation, modernisation, vendor partnerships and transition from legacy platforms.
  • Act as the senior business owner for ASX Trade and ASX24, with accountability for platform functionality, performance, resilience, access models, data distribution and cost efficiency.
  • Lead significant trading platform and market structure change, ensuring innovation is delivered without compromising operational resilience, risk management or regulatory compliance.
  • Partner closely with Markets Technology to influence front-to-back architecture and ensure technology decisions support business, customer and regulatory outcomes.

Market structure, regulation and external engagement

  • Develop, own and advocate ASX’s position on cash and derivatives market structure, working in partnership with Product Management and Distribution.
  • Stay close to regulatory, competitive, customer and government developments that may impact trading platforms and services.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with ASIC, RBA and relevant industry bodies, supporting confidence in ASX’s trading platforms and market outcomes.
  • Represent ASX externally on complex, sensitive or strategically important trading, market structure and platform-related matters.

Commercial and revenue accountability

  • Take accountability for the commercial performance of trading services, including revenue drivers linked to platform access, trading models, pricing inputs and data distribution within the broader Markets P&L.
  • Define and manage pricing inputs and commercial initiatives across trading services in close collaboration with Product Management and Finance.
  • Identify market structure, access and trading model opportunities that support revenue growth, customer value and competitive positioning.
  • Use trading, participant and platform data to inform commercial strategy, pricing decisions and market positioning.

Customer and stakeholder outcomes

  • Own trading access models and service design, from participant onboarding and connectivity through to execution and post-trade data.
  • Partner with Distribution and customer-facing teams to support strategic participant relationships, complex escalations and strong service outcomes.
  • Ensure trading platform and market changes are delivered with a strong customer and participant impact lens, including readiness, transition planning and communication.

Leadership and culture

  • Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing Trading Services team with clear accountability for resilience, delivery and outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, curiosity, continuous improvement and shared ownership.
  • Operate effectively in a matrix environment, maintaining clear decision rights, prioritisation and escalation pathways.
  • Collaborate across ASX to drive enterprise-wide alignment, particularly with Product Management, Delivery, Technology, Risk, Legal and Distribution.

Must-have experience

  • Deep experience in trading services, market operations, market structure, exchange platforms or a closely related financial markets environment.
  • Strong understanding of cash and/or derivatives markets, trading platforms, participant connectivity, order execution models and market data.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or influencing critical technology platforms, including roadmap prioritisation, resilience, change delivery and vendor or technology partnerships.
  • Proven ability to lead complex change in a highly regulated, high-availability environment where stability, governance and risk management are essential.
  • Experience engaging with senior internal stakeholders, customers, regulators and industry bodies on complex or sensitive market-related matters.
  • Commercial acumen, including experience using data and market insights to inform pricing, revenue, customer and competitive strategy.
  • People leadership experience, with a track record of building accountable, collaborative and outcome-focused teams.

What success looks like

  • ASX Trade and ASX24 continue to operate with sustained resilience, stability and regulatory confidence.
  • A clear strategic vision is defined and consistently executed, aligning teams and guiding decision-making across trading services.

  • Strong alignment is maintained across Trading Services, Product, Technology and other enterprise partners.
  • Customer outcomes, service experience and competitive positioning continue to improve.
